being rich/having a stable high income job would definitely impress the parents, but you are missing the most important thing.
When you want to marry a korean girl, before you can ask for her hand in marriage you must first defeat her father in starcraft
Let's make it clear, to marry a korean idol you need: 1. Money. (A billionare with a stable income, quite easy, kkkkk) 2. Fame. (Famous at least in Korea, there are different ways to become famous, it is not that impossible, as it seems) 3. Looks. (If you don't look like a dead hobbit a couple of surgeries and a workout would do the job done) 4. Language. (To become fluent in korean you'd need to practice your ass off for 4~ years everyday for 4~ hours) 5. Father's permission. (That is based on luck, not everybody is A rank, some are B or C, but if you aim for IU or Taeyong, you better be ready for the mothefucking proleague level)
The first to marry an idol will have his name engraved on the first page of this thread.

I'm going to Korea soon through a government funded scholarship. The US State Dept sent me an email advising me to become familiar with Korean culture.

Marrying an idol of this caliber would be a little too good to be true, and I've tried to not give myself any unreasonable expectations, so I don't really have any so-called fantasy about a unbelieveably epic marriage, but I'm sure my oh so vivid imagination can create something spectacular if I ever feel like it
On the subject of dating an idol, say we had a stable well to do job and we learned korean. How would we actually meet them? I think that one could accomplish alot of requirements that have been stated the last few pages but actually meeting them in a social enviroment or even being set up on a blind date would really be the hard part. The foot in the door seems to me to be the most important element.
On a side note, what is up with the hating on the engineering profession? Last I checked, it is one of the more stable jobs to have. I am a P.E. and job stability has never been a concern for me ><

I heard that going up on stage during a live performance and "kidnapping" one of them is a good trick that everyone should have ready for use. jk
No but seriously it would definitely be something extraordinary to just run into them, and when the opportunity arise you better have ur "strategy" all planned out, or go with the flow.

If you're a business person, say, a management consultant, you can probably tell management that you enjoy their music, and would love an opportunity to meet the assets of the firm.

Nothing, just that an engineer is much less likely to meet an idol than a business person or entertainer.

Come on, guys. Thread needs to get back on track.
Just go back to posting pics/MVs and discussing how cute random idols are.
Having several posters discuss with a relatively high level of seriousness their strategies to fly to Korea and seduce their favorite idols is really fucking sad.
I've lurked since this thread was in the mid-triple digits and I don't think I remember anything this pathetic.
