To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |

Is it? It's actually kind of refreshing to see girls in a less sexual way. Like, any American actress or singer, the first thing I immediately associate them with is their sexual image. I think to me, that's part of the appeal of kpop

Yeah I usually picture all kpop stars as much further on the cute side then the hot or sexual side. And I am on the younger age spectrum of this thread being 17 maybe more of the older idols can be more sexual but still most I think of as cute and prefer it that way.

I made a relative comparison to his statement that this thread was becoming uncomfortable. The point being that it is more strange for a young guy to be made uncomfortable by sexuality.

always da best
edit: I dunno, I feel pretty weird too when gurls talk about how they wanna bang their kidol oppars and stuff. I think of them as pretty/hot/whatever, but I don't really sexualize them, I just think of them as pretty people to look at. Contrary to popular (?) belief, I am a good kid and do not have dirty thoughts.
pps i feel da same way about girl groups i just mentioned guys cuz u know

Depends on the people. Some groups are largely based on sexualization (Rania), others are all about being "cute" like a little sibling (IU), and then the majority of the rest just sort of are in the middle. Tends to be the younger groups start as cute and as they age they move to sexualization. Male groups are pretty much all identical, though.

I'm not made uncomfortable by sexuality, I'm uncomfortable thinking of kpop stars sexually. I mean, like I could never imagine sleeping with IU or something.. Maybe a walk in the park with her while being serenaded some Disney birds.

You don't have to be uncomfortable with sexuality in order to be uncomfortable talking about someone sexually, or looking at sexually provocative pictures. Especially when those pictures border on porn. Not that I mind, because, honestly, if I don't want to see it, I won't look. But still, those are some RACY pictures.
|
Compared to Kpop images maybe, but western pop is far more risqué and sexualizd. That's why I think it's weird when western Kpop fans get just as offended by, say, bubble pop as Koreans were, but then turn around and have no problem with a britney spears music video.
|
I think Britney Spears should put on some damn clothes! I mean, I'm as red-blooded as the next young guy, but still... there is really no need for a young girl to be dancing around in her underwear for all the world to see. Leave some to the imagination, ya'know.
I'm not offended by it, but it is weird how far into the other direction we've gone, now that these bubble pictures aren't even seen as racy.

edit- @MasterBlaster- I mean they're sexual I guess, but obviously fake so they don't really bother me.

Isn't this just a blown up argument involving the clash of cultures...western vs korean. Every culture sells sex, but it just appears more dominant in western society than korea, so once we get exposed to both cultures, we kinda get used to it. But then when korea comes up with something we're totally not used to, we go WTFBBQHAHXAX!
I think it's somewhat similar to me growing up in Canada, I went to Japan for vacation, found everyone excessively nice...then when I came to Canada, I started wondering wtf was wrong with everyone here? Probably an extreme case of coincidence where I didn't meet any unfriendly people in Japan.
Time for age/gender polls?!

It's fine to be sexually attracted to them. It's not fine to photoshop them to seem naked. That's just creepy x10
edit: as for me, I don't sexualize most of the idols, probably because of their cute image. Maybe Hyuna or Hyori or some other idols who go for a sexy image, sure. But for SNSD specifically, no. Not that their image is cute anymore, it's just I don't see them in a sexual way, more that I respect and look up to them.

Bubbling is just amusing. Creepy is people stalking and taking voyeur pictures of idols on vacation or posting pictures of hairy arms wearing wristbands.
Protip: You don't wear heels because they're comfortable. They're to make your ass and legs look better.
|
I'm attracted to them as dream-girlfriends (looks wise) but my imagination never went further to anything obscene. I don't think it's weird for people to think like that because sometimes it just looks too sexual. It's simple as that, everyone is attracted to "beauty". Be it your own taste.
Britney pre or even "Oops I did it again" is fine. I actually liked her then like most people.
^^^ That's Hyuna yes. And it's pics like that, that people fantasize the way they do. Some idols take it to the next level

That photoshop was perfectly fine, more than fine...
Your last sentence there is waaay creepier to me...or just weird perhaps.

How is respecting and looking up to an idol "waaay creepier" than photoshopping them so that they look nude?
I don't even think the photoshop is necessarily creepy, but I can see where that comes from. I can't even begin to imagine why it would be creepy to look up to them though...

I don't agree with him but I think it's the idea of liking a kpop group to the point where you want to emulate them, even though you're a male.
Also I see nothing creepy about the photoshops really. Not my thing, but there's a sexualized side to kpop and all people are doing is manipulating pictures to exploit that. I'm not particularly interested in seeing kidols naked but I don't care that other people might.
