Soon is an overstatement, but overall its a good strategy and if successful would put SM at the forefront in a massive market.
Its been SM's end goal for a while now, to build up the Asia market for long term dominance while getting what they can now from the hallyu wave in Japan and whatever forays they can sweep up in Europe and the Americas.

I'm Chinese, I don't speak Korean. I'm Chinese cantonese and I speak cantonese.
And it would seem strange to you for a Chinese to not speak Chinese(any dialect). But that's not true, there are more then enough second generation Chinese immigrants that don't speak the language... SHAMEFULL! But it happens, parents tend to want the children have less problem at school so they themselves use their half arsed native language skills to teach their children. So the children don't really learn Chinese. I have more then enough friends that wouldn't be able to survive overseas while being yellow-skinned. And all of them regret not having learned the Chinese language now.
Anyhow, does anyone here watch Bakuman? Sulli is looking like Miho

That's dumb. There will never be as many jay chous as there will be Jay z s. And even then there is more international appeal in a jayz song than a jaychou song. Look at every other peak of an asian countries music scene, whether it be taiwanese, japanese or whatever it lasts a few years and moves on because countries inevitably go back to songs in their native language. The money is elsewhere.
In that regard Japan has already outplayed korea because sony music emerged rather than jpop trying to conquer the world. The fact that even when kara or snsd goes to Japan they still have to sell their music through someone else just shows how far behind they are.

I am Chinese and I have a hard time speaking and understanding Chinese... I am shameful ;(

For me it was more like I was fluent conversationally, and then went to school and stopped speaking for 8 hours a day, and my chinese-only speaking grandparents moved out of the house and went back to China, and my parents spoke a mixture of both languages anyway, which resulted in me forgetting whatever I knew, unfortunately.

I agree with the Mandarin part but I do think that Korean sounds good either way. Something about the set of sounds they use and the fact that consonants are never put together (unlike most western languages) means that it sounds more fluid compared to say, english, where consonant clusters make for more gutteral sounds.

The thing that SM believes and I think will happen eventually is that it won't matter that the songs don't catch on in Europe/America, they're already big in Korea and some parts of Asia, and by continuing to push into other parts of Asia (such as Miss A are doing in China, everyone in Japan), when the Asian market continues to grow and expand, especially with Asian consumers spending more and more every day, is that eventually the Asian market will be just as big or bigger than the American market, making it more irrelevant.
Even if that takes awhile, what I think SM has realized is that having Korean artists breaking into the US market is a long shot and something not worth investing heavily in at this point in time since the expected return is so small, so instead they'll put out English versions of everything and do a few concerts a year to get all the guaranteed niche fanbase dollars that they can.

i think they have a way of recognizing and matching the audio/video automatically which is why people upload videos mirrored or with the sound warped. and that job probably wouldn't pay very well
