Wonder Girls are...a joke. They've had to use all of 2PM's profits to balance out the money sink that WG has been in the U.S. And when has anyone cared about the U.S. when it comes to Kpop? I'm pretty sure China/SEA is much more highly regarded.
If you count Korea, there's no question that SNSD reigns supreme based on all of the awards, album sales, CF deals that they've gotten in the past year.
So no, I disagree, they are, to my chagrin, as popular as people make them out to be.
Source please? I do remember kara making more money than snsd, but not about snsd > kara in single sales or WG using 2PM's profit. I'm sure that snsd makes more sales in korea because their fanbase there is the 2nd biggest.

And fine, I won't compare to Gee. Sales of Hoot still aren't blowing competing albums out of the water. They're a top girl group, but it's a stretch to say they're the most popular. edit- ^WG thing is true, but they've only been there for a year/that's an initial investment; I doubt JYP would keep them there if they were wildly unsuccessful, they were 40something out of the Billboard top 100 singles list for 2010 for Nobody, so it's not like they aren't doing that well.
Alright, I agree with you there. I'm pretty sure as far as 'the most popular' kpop group goes it's Big Bang, IIRC they have the biggest fanbase in Korea.

I'd also argue the most individual talent; TOP's good at rapping, GD's a good lyricist/composer/producer, Taeyang's solo did really well. Too early to tell with Seungri, personally not a fan of VVIP but others may disagree. I also read that they pull in the most money in advertising revenue.

Additionally, on the rankings based on sales figures for songs, SNSD’s ‘Gee‘ and ‘Genie‘ placed 1st and 2nd place respectively, while KARA’s ‘Jumping‘ closely followed at 3rd.
As for the WG statement, I read it in this thread a while back. I think it was posted by T.O.P? I don't remember the actual source though.
This is kind of coming out of nowhere, but why the hell are Kahi and UEE so popular from After School? Not hot and as far as I can tell not exceptionally talented....Jooyeon's so much hotter from that group, Lizzy does the cute thing well if that's what you go for...idk. ^ man, that event was a goldmine for nice pics... Can't see anything, but Hyuna pulling up Krystal's shirt, can see swimsuit/bra, if you're into that kinda thing. Credit in picture.

I would think that the most popular group in Kpop and in korea is relevant to kpop these days.
Kara outsold SNSD in Japan, Wonder Girls is outselling them in the US. Hoot hardly did extraordinary by any means; it sold well, but didn't do as well as Gee did and is comparable in sales to many other kpop albums. they're still popular, but not as popular as you make them out to be.
Huh? SNSD attempted to sell in the US? Kara outselling SNSD in Japan should be a no-brainer; Kara pretty much made a full album (Girl's Talk) in Japanese while SNSD only released some of their title tracks in Japanese.
And I don't think they'll ever sell another album as much as Gee ever again, that single is wayyyy too catchy and went almost viral on the internet. Saying their new shit isn't as good as Gee is like comparing silver to diamonds.

SNSD is big in SEA eventhough not as big as Super Junior, but as a girl group goes they are the biggest.
Nobody is famous here but thats it, no other WG's song are popular
