James Cameron talked about AVATAR at E3 this year. He talked about the plot and how they got help from Ubisoft to develop post-production (I assume) graphics.

I dunno about you guys, but since I really plan on seeing the movie anyways, I'd rather NOT see ANY trailers or previews for it, that way you're extra blown away.

When I saw this thread I thought this was the tv show....
Where the heck are my firebenders?

I'm hyped too. This movie sounds fucking AMAZING

A number of shots from that 'trailer' are from Koyaanisqatsi.
Hope it's going to be a good movie, but it's a bit early to say...

Seen in 3D, that would mean everything in the movie -- planets, spaceships, aliens, whatever -- looks totally real in every way. If Avatar really does manage to bridge the uncanny valley that would be a major step forward in film making (well, as far as summer blockbusters are concerned). I'm looking forward to it.
Wait, what exactly is the Uncanny Valley?

This movie is going to be amazing, from the looks of that image metrics preview on that blog.

Because it's been in post production for over a year. As well as marking Cameron's return to Sci-Fi.

holy crap, that preview made me shit bricks. imagine they used this technology to design the orcs in lord of the rings? i'd shit my pants.

If you're too lazy to read the wiki...
It's a theory that posits that the closer something non-living resembles a living thing, the more it invokes an unconscious disgust response in people. once you hit a certain level of realism, passing the uncanny valley, the disgust response begins to go away until you end up with something that is indistinguishable from a living being.

willpower and discipline!
I've always been strongly against seeing previews for movies i KNOW im going to see, just because SOO many times theres dumb fucking spoiler shots in a trailer, OR the AWE of some badass scene, just won't be there when you've seen it 60million times on a trailer. Just do what i do and plug your ears, close your eyes and make humming sounds till its over!
