This has nothing to do with what medium is getting adapted, but rather how long the work is. You could have an really long manga like One Piece (just for an extreme example) require a ton of episodes to get adaption, and then you could potentially have some short LN get adapted in a cour. Obligatory OreImo is shit regardless of format
This is true, my perspective is probably a bit skewed because the LN I have read are longer series while a lot of the manga series I follow weren't long (or won't end up long, One Piece aside because I hope that series continues to go on for a looong time).
Edit: and yes a lot of complaints against OreImo are against the story itself and not its manner of presentation.

yea, but i'm wondering how SoL LNs are affected in an adaption compared to Fantasy / Sci-fi. Not your opinion on oreimo itself

I tried watching GitS yesterday but couldn't get into it. Normally I give shows that I know have potential a few episodes at least because I know they'll be quality. But have to ask, is GitS nostalgia over rated like many anime or is it legit great? GitS SAC is what I tried watching. From the first 2 eps it at least seemed like the MC had potential.
I also haven't given Mushishi more than 1 ep on either season of it... and Mushishi fans swear it's super great. Dislike episodic to a degree unless it's awesome comedy wise.
I think nostalgia over rated happens to a lot of well anime movies. I see a lot of movies in the top 250 anime on MAL that I don't really think belong nearly as high as they are rated. Well, over rating everything happens based on nostalgia really.

SAC is legit, especially the first season with the whole "laughing man" case.

Both Oregairu and Oreimo worked out fairly decent in that regard. At least, if we ignore Ayase vol getting axed.

Thx will watch both then! :D

GitS SAC is an anime that many of my IRL friends who don't watch anime liked. Take that as you will. I don't think they'd seen the movie beforehand either?

GitS was the first anime I watched and remains one of my all time favorites.

If you didn't like the first 2 eps you can try the 4th episode which is the first C episode. I watched the whole series but if I ever plan to rewatch the series I would only watch the C episodes. You can get a list of the C episodes here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ghost_in_the_Shell:_Stand_Alone_Complex_episodes

But there's no hayamin in textform... so I'd ditch that.

It seems weird to go on about nostalgia because you, the outlier in this case, don't like a popular movie or series. Everyone has different tastes.

Really?
There are so many popular/good/well-acclaimed novel -> anime adaptations. I'll just list the ones I've watched and know a lot of people like:
Katanagatari, Kino no Tabi, Baccano, Durarara, Tatami Galaxy, Fate/Zero, Kuuchuu Buranko, Perfect Blue, Aoi Bungaku, Banner/Crest of the Stars, Toradora, Haruhi, Kara no Kyoukai, Denpateki (lol), Monogatari Series, Uchouten Kazoku, Jinrui, Bungaku Shoujo, Howl's Moving Castle, Grave of the Fireflies, Spice and Wolf, Welcome to the NHK.
And isn't Legend of the Galactic Heroes a book series or something?

I think I read somewhere here that some Ayase scenes were cut from the anime or something but thats about it.

I thought it was that there is a vol that just didn't get animated because of timeissues.

the worst part is how they include the stalker for no reason.

ha i never know the term of 'secondary' exists. i do prefer the origianal media and always read/watch the original source when it is possible/convenient to get. i want to post that fsn original menu theme tune but i cant seem to find it on youtube.

I just count GiTS as original because it's so completely different from manga.

Of the list, only Haruhi, Uchouten anime better than LN. Stuff like Kara no Kyoukai, it's hard to say if anime is better or just have graphics...
Though I'd say LN > Anime adaptation is best followed by manga. game > anime is by far the worst.
