Because the main character is typically someone that most people will like. Nagisa, for instance, is someone that makes pretty much anyone go bawwww and wahhhh, having a more fleshed out story than anyone else. Taiga I can't comment on, I didn't pay much attention to toradora.
Also, G-senjou was a TERRIBLE vn, please don't play it.
Hah, how can you watch Toradora and not pay attention to it? + Show Spoiler +
But also, wouldn't people still like Tomoyo or maybe Kyou more? I understand that maybe there's some deeper possibilities when a character is kind, naive and caring, but doesn't it get boring? I really think the majority would prefer even a tsundere over Nagisa.. Also, I just remembered an anime with the best girl evar, bakemonogatari <3, Hitagi is for me the epitome of a great girl.. tt
Why shouldn't people read g-sen, though? I read it and I really liked it ..
What VNs have you played?
Also, nice to see a fellow tsundere fan; Thumbs up to you :D
Also, we never talk about anime in IRC, see below. + Show Spoiler +
<@Kaal> what does it mean to be Dutch?...... <kitagawa> what is love? <MichaelEU> What do you mean what does it mean? <MichaelEU> (love = cheese) <@Kaal> kitagawa where are you from?........ <kitagawa> address: ~ident@ircers.anonymous <MichaelEU> lol <@Kaal> Like when I say I'm American, I think Bald eagle flying over the statue of liberty with an apple pie in it's talons, an american flag flapping in the background and the Star Spangled Banner playing in the background. And fireworks. <kitagawa> lol <MichaelEU> Fireworks? Seriously?
A part of Shuffle!, F/SN, G-sen, about to start Tsukihime.. Why? Afaik those are the most mainstream ones, are there VNs that are better?
F/SN and tsukihime is the only ones I'd recommend of those. Saya no Uta, Clannad, Sekien no Inganock, and Ef are ones I liked. You'd probably like Ef and Saya.
If you speak/read japanese/korean/chinese then Southlight and Ecael can give you more.
That's right, I also played Clannad ofc.. I've been dying to see the Ef anime, though, so should I watch the anime or just completely skip it? Every single one of my friends swear how fucking good it is, but I haven't found the time/state of mind to watch it yet.. I'll definitely look up saya though edit: that looks amazing, i can already imagine that being kickass.. downloading
Ef - a Tale of Memories was probably one of the best series I've seen. I absolutely loved it, all the characters just seemed like they worked well together. The story itself was so-so, but that type of genre is all the same in terms of how the story goes.
As for Ef - a Tale of Melodies, I never actually watched it because it focused on the others more (or so I thought when I read through the episode list on Wikipedia).
Star Driver ending left me with me mixed feelings, but it was fabulous so there's always that, and the awesomeness of the 2nd half of the show made up for the sillyness of the first half. 7.5/10
blah I'm going to be watching a lot this season lawl - hanasaku iroha, nichijou, tiger & bunny, kaiji 2, twgok 2, possibly Dog Days (Lol), and for my old anime to watch Xam'd. Most I've tackled in a season, hoping I'll be able to keep up lawl

Edit: Can't really speak to "Ones that are better," but Ef is my favorite VN, over any VN.
Are there lots of VNs worth playing that are in Chinese or Korean that are not in English? Particularly Korean?

Yes. Alot of VNs go from Japanese to Chinese/Korean in a matter of days, it's just a matter of finding them. I don't speak Chinese/Korean myself so I can't help you.

the second Ef was weaker, honestly I don't like Kuze, but Yuuko route made that season very very awesome definitely worth watching
