Question: Does Hayate actually know that everyone else is a magi? And if she doesn't, wouldn't she think that there's something weird with having a pet wolf with blue fur?
Also, is the Velka-type magic better than the...for lack of a proper term, mainstream magic? Or is it just a different style with its own pros and cons?
I've also noticed inconsistencies. When Nanoha woke up in the bed on the space station, she had the black ribbons. But then in the next scene, same day, same station, she has her normal white bows. Fate had the white bows too. It looked kinda dumb lol.
And why does every goddamn character have a huge cowlick on the side of their hair? Did the character designer do that to make himself feel better because he has bad hair?
Ep 4 looks great, seems like Nanoha and Fate might get the Velka-type magic.
It's been a while since I watched, but I'm fairly certain she knows. It gets explained later on, I think.
Velka magic is just regular magic + cartridges. The cartridge system is good for powering up over a short period of time. Hence why Nanoha and Fate got their asses handed to them.
She knows, but yes, that gets explained in detail later on.
Belka-style magic is fairly different and it is NOT only about the cartridges. For example the different philosophy concerning Armed Devices. Ferrose was right about that, it is a different style with different basics and pro and cons. Is not really explained until you get to the extended universe and/or StrikerS though.
Edit: They don't get Belka-magic, they'll stay Mid-Childa types.

Edit: I'm also loving all the obvious yuri undertones. Those scenes when Nanoha and Fate just stare into each other's eyes are too cute.
If you think they are lesbians now, just wait till StrikerS
I have a feeling that I will not like StrikerS as much. I'll miss the lolis
Edit: This has had a lot of fanservice already, or at least, a lot more than the movie. I found it pretty nice how the movie had barely any. All I remember is like one or two pantsu shots.

lol, I haven't even gotten there and I still know what scene you're talking about.

Man, that's like the least of StrikerS problems... show was just bad. And all the bad decisions made during StrikerS are kinda unreversable, which means any potential future sequel is going to be bad too. I have some silly hope the creators will just pretend StrikerS never existed and continue straight from where As left off, but that's not going to happen
Yeah, I always thought the Belkan cartridge system made a lot of sense too. I mean, the characters just fire bursts of magic anyway, so having a device to store magic and then release it all at once like a capacitor makes way more sense than just trying to use whatever magic you have on hand. As for fanservice in A's, there's some interesting pseudo-tentacle rape later on, but...
This is making me want to rewatch As, if not for the work I'm drowning in :/
Edit - Yeah, that's another problem with strikers. Focusing on the wrong part of Fate's body.

IIRC, A's loves Fate's ass.
Not as much as the movie loves to show Fate's ass. :|
Edit: Which is replaced in StrikerS by showing her tits. (And gets worse in Vivid.)
Edit 2: So that the people can see what I'm talking about when I say the fanservice gets much worse in Vivid, picture is probably NSFW: + Show Spoiler [Vivid NSFW] +

I respectfully disagree on most of those points lol
I've said it before, but I think the setting in StrikerS was by far the best, its just that the execution wasn't so great, at least until closer to the end.

I mean, I didn't like the setting as much as in the first two shows, but I didn't mind it that much. My problem with StrikerS is that it introduces a whole bunch of characters that are neither as strong nor as interesting as the main ones, and then spends a bunch of time focusing on these people training. Watching characters I don't care about engage in mock battles with nothing on the line is zzzzzzzzz.
I agree that the end of StrikerS was by far the best part, but that's because it was (not really a spoiler unless you are totally unfamiliar with the series)+ Show Spoiler +
Nanoha and Fate kicking ass again. Basically, the end of StrikerS was the closest the series came to A's, which is why it was the best part.
I know some people did like StrikerS, but that's because they liked the new characters that were introduced and I didn't find any of the new characters appealing, so all they did was waste time while characters I did care about got less screen time than they should have.

I agree alot of the new characters introduced weren't as interesting. The 2 kids in particular were nothing but generic rehashes. But Subaru and Teana were fine IMO. Also, its not like the first two series didn't have their uninteresting characters (Shamal, I'm looking at you! I'd group Hayate into this too, but people apparently like her for some reason). Overall, I do agree with you on what StrikerS' problems were. The new characters and the pacing were definitely problems. I guess I just disagree about the extent as to which they hurt the show. Well, in addition to me liking the more militaryish setting.
Those 4 episodes were really good. On one side, we assist to the birth of the Iserlohn Republic Government. On the other side, the reorganization of the Galactic Empire into something much more stronger.
I have a theory Reinhard may be suffering of food poisoning. I think Emil is working for the terraists... My doubts mainly come from that scene where he was eating his soup, but was interrupted, and the narrator insisted on the fact that he didn't eat more. Also from the conversation with Rubinsky about that curse from the Archbishop. It would sucks if that's the case. Not really a great way to die and not really a great way to kill. In any case, just a stupid theory that will probably be wrong.
Lol 40 billions to 1 million people. They are completely outmacroed... It's not even a ninja expo either like Heinessen did.
So it was the last time Mittermeyer and Reuental saw each other... This is scaring me... What the hell is gonna happen...
I'm on episode 35. I don't want it to finish. I know how it ends pretty much, but can't bring myself to let this awesome anime series go out of my life. may go back and watch some episodes with L I dono, just not going to finish it.
