Good action and energy but aside from that it was quite meh. Next to no progress whatsoever. Especially the romance even regressed at times. I don't know what it is with anime but randomly pretending some progression in a relationship never happened seems to be a common trope and I hate it. And whoever said the romance in this show progresses nicely, skrew you! You were wrong and I hate you! Not really...
Gachiakuta is sitting at 3 episodes for a while. I will probably drop it at some point.
Its time for the autumn-season! a couple of returning shows thats a must watch:
spy x family boku no hero One punch man Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill
Have my eyes on a few new ones:
Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryūgi Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru SANDA Touring After the Apocalypse
Then we have the standard isekai/MC op-shows that are the guilty pleasure of the season, not really good but really scratches my itch :p
Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon Mushoku no Eiyu The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's
But one thing im looking forward the most is finding this seasons dark horse, allways 1-2 that comes out of nowhere

No one knows. We got a trailer a year ago and that's pretty much it for now. Radio silence since then.
I just hope it won't be like Fate: Strange/Fake where they do a "TV series" but every episode is 1-2 years apart.

Bummer.
A fate/strange way of releasing sucks so really hope they dont do that
I've watched the first 2 episodes and they weren't bad but I'm a bit afraid to continue because the trailer got ratioed into oblivion and the comments underneath it don't inspire much confidence.
I love the Splinter Cell games and would hate to see them do Sam dirty...
Just saw the Chainsawman Reze Arc movie, I have not been so moved in a very long time. Since I saw Anohana, maybe.
I often look at the world around me, things I love with metastasizing brand mashup cancer-slop, devoid of thoughtfulness, craft, utterly loveless and cynical in nature and find myself despairing. Products meant to do nothing but wring money from people too disinterested in anything but the comfort of their familiar brands and franchises. Magic the Gathering, Overwatch, countless other examples of the most empty cynical defilement of things I've considered artistic achievements.
This movie was a very welcome reminder that there is still art out there, there is still vision out there and the craftsman who bring those visions to us are still hard at work.
and the second half was extremely rad. Wonderful adaptation, sticking much more closely to the manga style than the anime, and while I found some of the walk cycling disjointed, its an adaptation that I can only describe as being genuinely devoted in the most pure sort of way to it's source material.
Reze and Denji's relationship was wonderful, the chemistry is absolutely beautiful and wild, if I found Akaza's backstory in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle to be good, sad backstory material after watching it, then after watching Reze and Denji throughout the movie I have to look back at Akaza's backstory and find it almost hollow in comparison. The action is wonderful, the imagery throughout is artisanal, the use of color, subject, use of cuts and symbolism for foreshadowing, the humor hits every time, Bomb is a force of nature, and the sheer scale of the destruction between here and Typhoon is awesome. Beam and Denji are wonderful together in the fight, the ending is perfect. I remember all of the important story beats, Ive been reading Chainsawman since like, chapter 14, but everything hit like I had no idea what was coming next.
It both reveres and elevates the manga material, I would like to live in a world where people love and appreciate art in the way that the people at Mappa seem to love and appreciate Chainsawman.
Reze arc movie definitely far exceeded my expectations and I will go for a second rewatch next week. I was going in uncertain because S1 anime kinda missed the mark for me. Like it didn't understand chainsawman is a blend of many genres, you can't lean on one too much and try to keep it consistent throughout.
Apparently Mappa was unsure how well the movie was gonna do, so glad the arc got all the budget and love it deserves, because this is the arc that really showcase what chainsawman is all about. The cinematography, the black humor, the chaos, the emotions etc, layers of layers of quality work
I dont think you need to have seen season 1 to enjoy it, but theres some stuff that will come up and you wont really understand without prior knowledge.
Theres a compilation movie for the first season out there, if you dont want to commit to the 12 episodes you can give the movie a watch.
EDIT: Just rewatched, I’d recommend watching the first season. You get a lot more out of it. If you aren’t familiar with the series the rewatch also has another dimension to it that you can appreciate more with knowledge of what happens. It really emphasizes the craftsmanship of the movie.
I watched the first season again yesterday to prepare myself for the rewatch and it definitely made the experience a bit better. Would probably help your experience go from like a 7-8/10 to a 10/10

Started watching the series. Got time for 4 episodes today and it is a goofy action series, quite nice thus far.
