I loved Season 2, the finale for that and how absolutely tense and psycholigcal it was.
Season 3 is great. It has way more political intrigue but it has the titan action of 1 which I think was missing from 2.
4 feels very different because the status quo is completely different than the last 3 seasons.

Thanks, political intrigue sounds good if done well. Let's see. I just watched the first episode and it started out ok. Although I have to admit I'm a little lost after the 5 year gap after I finished s2.
And no offense, to me s2 was just cliffhangers stacked upon each other and after 12 episodes they basically left off where they started. If I remember correctly, I was also annoyed at the fact that they started of with some revelation, continuously suggested there was more to it throughout the season and then ended up trying to sell the same revelation in the end as a new one...
Anyhow, in other news I finished A Place further than Universe the other day. It was way more formulaic than I thought it would be depending on the reviews. It was still well handled overall and fairly enjoyable but a bit disappointing as well.

Ousama Ranking and My Dress Up Darling have been my standouts this season. I wasn't expecting to get into them but I find myself eager for the next episode each week.

Huh, I disagree.... the revelation of the end of s2 with the traitors and such. I thought it was very well done. But don't worry, especially with 3+4, they're not afraid to change the status quo

Oh man, that anime was lifechanging for me. What did you find disappointing? To me, it has more adventure and heart than a lot of adventure anime. I can't wait to travel again after this pandemic. I think about the show fondly.

Firstly, the cast was the typical set of archetypes. So much so that it constantly reminded me of K-ON... Now, they weren't as one-dimensional as in K-ON but the similarities were striking. Secondly, the story and drama developed in a very confined and structured manner. E.g. there was one episode for each character's backstory. Then you had your typical highschool filler stuff (cleaning chores, baseball). All in all it felt very formulaic, as I said, scripted to a T. It didn't have much of an overarching flow if that makes sense.
All that being said, it was still well executed and by no means a bad show. I just thought it would stray from the norm but it really didn't except for the setting.
Also, I feel you. I can't wait to really travel again. However, this show didn't really give me a true feeling of adventure (and I'm a sucker for that). It felt more like a school trip to me rather than an expedition.

Saw the JJK movie, it was great! It's really cool to see this come to life, as my understanding the upper classman group from the series were supposed to be the main cast of the manga? It's really cool peering into what could have been.

I finished AoT s3 by now. The first part was ok. Definitely much less annoying than s2. The animation was generally fun again except the jarring cgi. Also the scaling of one particular titan seemed off... Part 2 was worse. Imho the reveals were very weak and uninspired. But again, not as annoying as s2. Lets see how long it takes for me to pick up s4... It's going to finish soon, isn't it? Is season 4 going to finish the story in case any manga readers are here?
