It's more of a slice of life of him trying to fit into a new society on a huge boat drifting in the ocean.
You mean Suisei no Gargantia? Definitely mecha. If I remember right, it was another one of Urobuchi's healing anime.

Looking at my list, there's a lot of mecha in here that I just straight up forgot existed. There's only a couple that I'd actually recommend.
Gridman/Dynazenon is worthwhile, but I'd say it's better at drama than it is at mecha fights unless you're into tokusatsu.
Sidonia maybe, but it has issues.
Majestic Prince has shockingly good fight choreography for a cg mecha tv series. First aired in 2013 and it still holds up today.
86 just finished this season. It's basically Muv-Luv with non-humanoid mecha, a worse story, and better directing. I think the 2nd cour will be airing around the same time as MLA (which I have very little faith in), so that'll be interesting...

Full Metal Panic had a new season a few years back. Never got to it though as I got stuck in one of the previous seasons...

FMP s3 had terrible fight animation compared to the Gonzo and KyoAni seasons. I only stuck with it for my (and Sentenal's) favorite scene from Burning One Man Force. I was surprised it even got greenlit, given that the main series ended in 2011.
Will they ever adapt the last three LNs? Who even knows at this point, but I doubt they'd do a good job.

I don't remember much of the original honestly, but I don't recall the cg in IV leaving a particularly good impression.

IV's CG was passable, the biggest problem with it is that a lot of the movement lacked 'weight' behind it. Gonzo's animation wasn't like slide-show or anything, but like everything else in that season, it was visually just really flat and dull, pretty much lacking any visual flair to it (with the exception of a few Lambda Driver scenes)

just dropped Vivy in the 4-5th episode. it has a really good animation but the story didnt do it for me. Started 86 and so far its pretty good.

Vivy Fluorite Eyes Song seemed interesting but quickly degenerated to a series of cheap emotional pulls that made no sense whatsoever as well as music blaring out a wall of highest volume everytime there is supposed to be a dramatic moment. Had to turn the volume down everytime I watched it. Ironic that the sound direction is so terrible considering that music is a central theme. Seemed to be exploring the notions of AI intelligence, can a robot have a soul it asks every episode, only that every conversation seems to be stilted and ends unnaturally and it seems the answer is no they are just programs every episode, unless you happen to be Vivy herself apparently. Had so much potential with interesting visual design of the future, some really nice animation, ended up an ugly mess of conflicting nonsense.

Fumetsu no Anata is really good so far. Enjoyable pace and unexpected turns while it keeps a fun friendly good feel wibe. Loved it! Thought provoking as well

That's the one! Years since I saw it, but remember it as a pretty relaxed/comfy anime sprinkled with some action here and there.

You are correct, its very sad at times. The end that kind of shifted, so I forgot the sad part

Haven't caught up to the latest episode, but it seems to take the same approach with each arc so quite predictable and there is always a sad ending. It's not a bad watch though and can be fun in its own way.

Was reminded yesterday that the director for the new season of Kobayashi is new because the previous passed during the fire.
I hope we get a lot of Fafnir this season, I don't think I can handle an entire season of Kobayashi trying to placate this genocidal freak with extraordinarily oversized breasts. It's like the recipe for the worst kind of saccharine content.

Any promising summer season animes so far? Any from spring season I must watch?
I've only started a few like "Bokutachi no Remake", seems enjoyable so far. Not sure exactly where the its going, but seems to have colorful characters. Also started "How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom" not to much new, but seems like the main char is confident, realistic and humble at least, which is nice compared to other similar "reborn in another universe" stories.

summer season seems like a big bummer for me. Slime Isekai is the only one that i'm going to watch (at least for now, until somebody gives recommendations here). Spring animes that come to mind: Hero Academia, Mairimashita Iruma-kun, Fruits Basket, Yuukoku no Moriatry (all continuations) and slime 300, Fumetsu no Anata e. I guess there are some more good ones (depending on your interests)

I started watching Witch Hunter Robin cause I was in need of something to watch, and I remembered seeing an episode or two of it at my friend's house when I was a kid.
Only 5 or so episodes in, but it seems decent so far. I like the atmosphere. It kind of reminds Texnohlyze or Ergo Proxy, maybe it's the animation style too.
Curious what people who have watched or tried watching it think of it.
