I wonder if Isabelle might be Norman's mother. In the most recent episode when Isabelle asks Emma if she wants to be a mom she mentions becoming an adult and having a kid before becoming a Mom. Which makes sense since you are probably a better Mom if you are a mom first. We know that Isabelle is roughly 30 years old from one of the previous episodes, so really any of the children are young enough to potentially be her child. As well, when Norman asks Isabelle if she is happy, as they are walking to the gate, her response shows the question, and perhaps the fact that it came from Norman, obviously affected her. In addition, she eventually responds by saying she is happy because she "got to meet someone like [Norman]." She might mean exactly what she said, but she could also mean that she is happy because she specifically got to meet Norman.

Lastly I think Norman and Isabelle's smiles look similar.

Isabella is 27 I believe and if Norman is 12, that means she had him when she was 15 which means she was 14 when she was carrying him. While that's possible, I somehow doubt it, however their world isn't like ours in the slightest too so the possibility is there. I think what she likes is having him around along with Emma and Ray. They are smart kids that probably bring her some joy in an otherwise mundane and terrible life, considering that she made a personal decision to become a mom to save herself.

I think she was caught off guard by his question, but I don't see that as indicating that she's his mom though sure, she may be the mom of some other kids, but if we consider that you should have a child first before becoming a mom, doesn't fit that. Problem with the smile thing is that it's subjective. Other part you forgot is that when Emma was crying after she declined becoming a mom, Isabella stopped at the doorway, turned out a bit and we were shown a legit sad face from her for the first time? I think the biggest question that won't be answered this season is what happened to Norman? I'm pretty sure he's not dead yet, but then, where is he? What was in that room? So many questions that won't be answered...

In episode 7 when Norman and Emma are questioning Krone she tells them that she is 26 and Isabella is 31 (10:55) so it is possible that Isabella is Norman's mother based on age. Still, having said that I think you are probably right that Isabella just enjoyed meeting smart children. In a way it might have been fun for her to thwart their attempts to escape. Also, while I do think their smiles are kind of similar I only mentioned it because I thought it was a funny reason to base my speculation on.

Ah right. I mixed up the ages of Isabella and Krone. This does make your theory more viable and it would be quite the twist too if that's the case. Sure, probably fun to try and thwart their attempts, but she also knew about the cliff so tbh aside from killing Krone after she used her, breaking the contract with Ray then breaking Emma's foot, she hasn't done much to stop them. In the latest episode, she told Emma if I'm not mistaken that she knew that they won't be able to escape, but maybe she just likes the idea of something trying to break the status quo considering all the other children are meek.
