overlord 4 wow that display of power scene was so funny, over the top, and grand. This is why i watch overlord. just to see ainz flexing all over noobs. I guess the throne room scene is fine too. At least the next ep is last ep of the lizardman arc.
edit: i had to clip the scene just cause of how over the top it is https://streamable.com/tbpqa

But the anime swings between "meh" and good constantly, it has a pretty interesting cast that manage to balance between being generic tropes (deliquent, cool beauty etc) while still being unique very well.

[...]Either way, it's not often you get to talk about buttcheek sakuga They're slightly more clothed than an Aquarion character, anyway. Just never mind the choice camera angles. + Show Spoiler [pic/lewd] +[...] [...]There's some subtle love polygon dynamics in play, but otherwise FRANXX is weirdly chaste in terms of interactions outside the robots. The characters have no idea what kissing is, and their partnerships are government-enforced; the end result is this horrible imitation of sexuality that only exists when piloting the FRANXX. Visually, however, it's a fuckin' field day with boobs and girl crotches everywhere.[...] the more I hope the show wants to pick apart the weird, uncomfortably utilitarian approach to sexuality that permeates their situation. lol. What more do you need to watch this Sent. This is the most Sent-show I've seen in forever Actually on 2nd thought. The boobs are probably all too small for him so maybe not

He's already watching it though.

oh I thought he dodged it for some reason? Wasn't echo mentioning that the other day?

I've watched episode 1 and 2, and it would be nice if the show had a plot. Instead we are in a world that has thus far gone completely unexplained and un-elaborated on, with a plot that is just about some talented slut lusting after a loser. If I want to watch a show with ass sakuga, I could rewatch Godannar, since that show is actually good.
That said, I'll keep watching it in hopes the show eventually will develop a plot. Because right now its pretty painfully boring, aside from like 2 minutes in episode 1. The mecha-faces are nice, at least.
Speaking of Godannar, I should rewatch thst show

It feels like Triggers style. Early episodes just set part of the scene and establish the main cast while dropping hints about the bigger picture before it ramps up. Also helps they are doing 24 eps so they have more room to do that.
|
yeah I've heard this argument that it's really slow a bunch. It might just be because people are expecting a 1cour show and for that you need to get into the action really fast whereas with 2cour you can take that one ep more to introduce the setting etc.
Can still be not what you want from it but if you going into this thinking it's 12episodes I can see how you'd get the feeling that isn't going anywhere fast enough.

I mean fuck, even Kill La Kill had a plot in episode one. Theres literally nothing driving the show forward beyond MC being a failure who can't pilot a robot. Which could be fine, I guess, if there was any elaboration on anything, which there wasn't. I feel like I made a big rant about this stuff already and I'm just repeating myself. Slow paced is fine, but whats NOT fine is essentially having no content other than "lol the control sticks come out of the girl's ass".
If its just about the MC wanting to pilot stuff, then the show should dive into that. Why can't he pilot? Whats different about the other people who can pilot? What happens if he doesn't? What can he do to get better? None of these things, which would be crucial points if this show is really about the above, get touched on in the least. So yeah, its not a question of speed and pace, its a question of the show being completely directionless.

Yea KLK went balls to the wall from ep one then just kept going upwards until it broke the heavens. Even when it slowed down that was just to catch a breath before leaping. I would not call "being slow introduction stuff" trigger style at all. Even LWA just leaps into action from the start then worries about setting up stuff afters.
I'd say Trigger's style is more "this stuff is freaking cool so check it out for now, don't worry what on earth is going on".

I'd personally say that if you hire the mangaka of To Love-Ru to adapt your anime original (?) series into a manga, and it's about robots being piloted by doggystyle powers that kind of counts. We have no idea why or what is going on, but we all look at the assshots in awe anyways.
Okay, that "we" might just be a "me" but you get the point Or at leat, they're clearly making their priorities known.

LWA the series was slow as hell. Go back and read the reddit threads. A lot of people were like "when is the plot going to kick in". LWA was just very flashy and did a bit better drawing you in the 1st couple of episodes but then they spent several episodes just developing side characters and not doing much before getting into it.
They could have done a better job dangling whatever obvious dystopian thing is going on in that world though I agree because from what little conversations we got from "papa" and the other higher ups is suggestive but of not as much as you would like.

I'm sure LWA was great but for me, the anime felt like it didn't have much of an interesting direction (very episodic from what I recall) and I think I stopped following it around 6 episodes or something? Too bad, heard it gets a lot better later on.
As for Darling, well, ya, the whole way that the pairing works is stupid as hell. I'm pretty sure they could've done it Kuromukuro style but it seems their priorities are in that direction. Still, I'm curious about some of the hints they've dropped about the MC as well as the other MC and her history so I'll keep watching for now.

I enjoyed both the episodic stuff and the plot stuff in LWA. Dunno, never got why people thought the first half of LWA was bad or the second half was so much better.

Nah, Keijo had too much plot.

It got too bogged down on melodrama when at it's core LWA thrives by being a comfy witch adventures show.
The anime community is just garbage so idk why I'd want to read what they said about it... They care more about the social aspect of a show than the actual show. It's no coincidence that trashy harem shows get the most buzz with tons of discussion even if half of the discussion are people saying how bad it is. If it's so bad why are you participating. zzzz. Episodic stuff like LWA just doesn't generate enough memes compared to trashy plot. So they hate it.
edit: Have you see how those guys lose their collective shit whenever Netflix gets a show and isn't going to do at airing time. It's like if it isn't a weekly show it doesn't exist
