I'm not good at this shit I just finished my trip in Japan. Spent 10 days there, 6 in Osaka, 4 in Tokyo. How long you staying in Japan? I would recommend spending only like 2 days in Kyoto and maybe 2-3 days in Osaka. Other days you can travel from Osaka to outer cities such as Nara to feed some deer, or Kobe for the beef. If you have a JR pass it should be easy to get around to other cities. 13days in total I think? The Kyoto/Osaka timetable looks like this: ![[image loading]](https://i.imgur.com/aH6PJoV.png) it's not really that I can't figure it out via google, I'm justs too lazy tbh~ So if people have recommendations I'm all up for that. I still have a visit to K-ON school as an option I guess since that's somewhere between Tokyo and Kyoto iirc and I have the JR pass for the light-blue highlighted days? It's a long flight. Guess I'll print some shit out and read it while not sleeping Are u going to hanasaku iroha inn or omi jingu shrine from chihayafuru? I'm excited for u

@znf: If you read this, I decided to continue to watch RahXephon. I don't feel like I'm flexible enough with my schedule atm. to arrange any dates to watch together. I'm sorry. : /
+ Show Spoiler [RahXephon ep11] +I'm not really sure what to think about the show yet. It has still potential but there are quite a few things I don't like so far. My two biggest gripes are the following:
1. I'm amazed that I have watched 11 episodes and still don't know anything about the world. How was Tokyo Jupiter created and for what purpose. What are the D-Arias, what's their purpose etc.? Who are the guys Ayato is working for now? How's the rest of the world organised. Ayato was thrown into this new world and was promised to get an explanation. He never got one, yet he moved from "I want to go home" to "this is the real world and my real home" without any explanation. It feels so wrong and it's unsatisfying as a viewer because there is no reason presented to hold back that information except for "just because" or to let the viewer hanging in the air. There are obviously a lot of people who know stuff. Why are they hiding it? This upholding of the mysteries feels completely artificial in this anime which is terrible.
2. The fights so far always go the same way. The D-Aria lands a critical hit, Ayato sees some visions, does a miracle and wins the fight. Not very exciting.
What I like so far is how they are resolving Ayatos backstory with Haruka. That has been subtle and well done. I also really like the execution of ep11. On itself that episode was really well done.
Whoever said that RahXephon excercises some unnecessarily confusing writing-style...So far I think that assessment is correct. The story often jumps from place to place and has a lot of interjections, which don't feel necessary and don't add anything to the story or the show itself. I have seen a few shows that do similar things but it served a purpose. When it does I really like it because it often makes the show unique and compelling. But when it seemingly serves no purpose it's the complete opposite. I feel there is no in-between regarding this issue.

There's also Fushimi Inari-taisha, for an experience of the never-ending torii gates that you see in practically every anime depiction ever. Nijo Castle looks pretty. Shimogamo Shrine is also pretty. For Osaka? Umm... Universal Studios Japan is there. Probably not an incredibly culturally relevant stop though. Wish I could find it - because really, no one does give a crap and actively avoids noticing it. Also, anime is probably not a good teacher for onsen etiquette... probably...

I'd forgotten how terrible the start of UQ Holder is. Granted, what comes after that isn't much better either.

But the first ep has Evangeline, happy material, and gore. I thought it was kind of entertaining.

UQ Holder E01
+ Show Spoiler +The show itself looks terrible and cheap, randomly put in harem and ecchi. End up with MC dismembered and still manages to end on a note of "meh lol whatever". 3/10 so far.
Black Clover E01
+ Show Spoiler +Dog shit. Most annoying MC in a while. Constant yelling and stupid tropes upon tropes. I knew it would be generic shonen before but I figured it would have some charm at least. Then I read that the first two arcs are pretty bad, so idk if I'll have the bother to stick with it. 2.5/10
At least there's still quite a few shows that can be very good this season.

Got to watch ep9 of Made in Abyss. Good episode once again. + Show Spoiler +I think the hallucination stuff at the end was a bit rushed but I assume they are saving that for the next layers where that problem becomes more severe. Riko finally realised that Reg is pretty much the reason she is still alive. And Reg realised he needed something to protect. I like that. The next layer looks disgusting.
I just saw that MiA is rank 24 on MAL. I mean, the show is good but that's over-hyping it, isn't it? In before, I'm aware that MAL rankings are not to be taken seriously. What confuses me is that MiA doesn't come off as a show that would get hyped on MAL. At least not in my mind.
I also started Soul Eater with a friend I'm traveling with. We are up to ep11. + Show Spoiler +The humour is childish and I dislike Blackstar and the symmetry kid. It also feels episodic while they try to deliver some progress. The "observer room" is so typical... Not a fan of that, either.
I can live with the animation though. Bones is doing good work here. Although the opening fight of Maka probably was the best looking fight in the series so far. Although the last one of Tsubaki against her brother had some nice scenes as well.

Shokugeki no soma off to a good start
|
The last arc of MiA was very well received which explains the jump in score. The score was around 8.20 before the fourth layer and 8.50 before the final episode iirc.
Finished SnB: Virgin Soul and just like Genesis it had a solid start but fell apart towards the end. Unlike Genesis it had twice the amount of episodes and a previous season full of worldbuilding though so the stupid plot in the last few episodes is inexcusable. I'm dissapointed overall but not too surprised, at least the show looked good aside from the poor CGI.

Oh shit I didn't realize Hoozuki no Reitetsu S2 was this season.
|
Black Cover manga is dope. The anime...not so much at the moment.
Watching Juuni Taisen next.
Gintama is back so my life is complete if every new anime this season turns out shit.
|
Juuni Taisen : The first episode was interesting! That ending reminds me of + Show Spoiler +Ga Rei Zero : You thought I was the MC? Nope!
Sengoku Night Blood : Too many characters. Not sure if they expect us to remember everything. Will probably drop as I didn't feel attached to the story.

That might explain it, thanks.^^
I'm sad to hear all the negative stuff about Virgin Soul. I enjoyed it until ep19 (haven't watched further) for the world building.
