A's TV had a whole lot of content for an 1 cour show, so much so that realistically it was impossible to fit that much into a movie. This resulted in a whole lot of stuff getting cut out for the film, which made it a lot less interesting. Some key subplots were gone, fights were combined, cool stuff cut out, etc.
On the other hand, The 1st Movie had the boon of being a movie version of a season that honestly didn't have a whole lot of content, which allowed them to basically actually refine it into a good product. And with this 3rd movie, with strains of having source material, hopefully they can recapture some of the things that made the 1st Movie so good.

the MC makes better decisions than I did back then for sure lol
but a lot of the conflicts, events, the characters, etc. is so accurate to what I experienced. lots of nostalgia watching the show and a bit of vicarious joy when MC doesn't repeat my mistakes and cringe when he does.

idk, I haven't watched Monogatari since Hana. Have to catch up this weekend if I'm supposed to deito for next season.
Also Kizu Part 3 comes out in July, so going to get to watch more glorious bat.

I read fan TL of Kizu already and it's definitely most memorable story of the series for me and solidified my 1 and 2. Mayoi Jiangshi is prob second, followed by Shinobu Mail.
edit: I think it's hilar that the series was supposed to end with Owari/Zokuowari but we're now 5 vols past that mark. zz

I feel like people are most split on the dialogue. It's interesting banter, if that's something you look for in a series. If you're not interested in that, Monogatari is a hard sell.
What appealed to me most about the series was probably character interactions (namely Koyomi's with 1 and 2) and a solid backstory/lore. It's prob in my top 10.
