Here on western boards I've only heard one guy talk about it before the anime came out though, most people probably disregarded it due to the premise. Saiki is hilarious, I should watch more comedy shorts if they're this funny. Woho, the first guy I've seen mention Saiki in this thread. Aside from Miragee who dropped it. Yeah, many episodes are hilarious.

How far is the manga along? Is there enough for another season? Dunno but even if there was S2 is unlikely given the sales... WTF why are sales so low???? I think it's because there was such a large focus on legs and ass while anime fans only care about big tits, idol shows, harems and gay innuendos.
It's always baffling what sells well over there.

Kizu 1 was alright. I disliked the weird art direction they went with it and the first act doesn't have much to it so splitting it into 3 is kind of weird. They also upped Cats boobs to huge levels instead of just like D cup.
I'm surprised other people watch Jojo, no one ever talks about it outside of Burning/Myself at times.

and if you make an anime about overweight guys in an idol boyband you might just get all that in one anime!
|
We already have idol boyband simulator game released this year. Surprised Square Enix didn't make an anime too. Throw in some locker room scenes between the band and you got top of the sale charts there.

but they don't have the manboobs, but yeah

I watched Monster and LOGH this year. If i put old animu in my list as well then those two would dominate everything this year for me.

Shouldn't be that surprising - it's one of the most influential manga series ever, after all. It gets mentioned in IRC from time to time. There's not an awful lot to talk about other than "they adapted ____ really well" though.
That said, I'm looking forward to the (potential) part 5 anime so I can finally understand what the hell happens in the story.

Oh yea the back logged stuff I watched would dominate everything for me too. Only like 2 shows this year can even begin to keep up with the stuff I watched from previous years.

The new colored scans did an amazing job with the retranslations so it's finally readable now, only problem is they're a pain to find and still unfinished with random arcs skipped for no reason.
They're damn gorgeous in comparison with what we had before though, for example : + Show Spoiler [JoJo Part 5] +

Yeah I've heard good things about the rescans/retranslations. I'd rather wait for it to finish though.

Keijo reminds me a lot of Cute High Earth Defense Club Love in that they both are full of pointing out the silliness of tropes in their respective genres and have tons and tons of references to other series (not nearly Nyaruko level, but still quite high), but the premise is just utterly intractable for a lot of people.
Difference is Cute High Earth Defense Club Love will get a second season because it wasn't nearly as lewd and the target audience for the genre niche is a larger.

so KonoSuba-2 apparently confirmed that s2 will have 5 BDs, so most likely only 10 episodes again just like s1. They didn't specify the amount of episodes but it's the same as s1 so far. That would mean vol3 + vol4 getting adapted this time and no vol5?
Idk what's with that 10 episode stuff when they already had to cut episodes in s1 like Wiz introduction. They could have easily fit that in there with normal 12 episodes... especially now that they know it sold really well and people want more

I don't think the budget of the show is high and they can make more money this way though it sucks for the viewers. They might even use shows like konosuba to fund the shows they really want to do.

if that's what they're doing at least give us the stuff they have to cut out in OVA form after the season finishes instead of that choker OVA... not like that was bad, although a bit too much for me personally, but they could have just as easily done a 1episode OVA with him traveling with the other group, or the Wiz introduction they had to cut.
At the end of the day, like people always say, it's not the studio that decides those things (wether or not it gets 10 or 12 episodes) so maybe it's really just some weird production Committee thing with some guy in a suit comming to the conclusion that s1 was popular with just 10 episodes and stuff cut so maybe the same will work with s2 as well, when really it was more of a "despite ... it ended up selling" (add a "despite DEEN" to that sentence) than anything else.
Just sad to see this with something that actually sells. Don't know what else to say

I mean, it doesn't really matter whether it's the studio or production committee in this case as both are equally important in making anime. It's just more profit in their pockets.
Anime wouldn't have to be so anti-consumer if it had sustainable demand unfortunately. 60-70 dollar blu ray for 2 episodes is outrageous.

I invested another 140 quartz into Merlin at just over $77, absolutely nothing. The gacha is cruel.

... Cute High Earth Defense Club Love has a second season. It was not as good as the first season. It didn't suck.
