Well to me it looks like they did it on purpose, so decide for yourself if it's garbage or a style.
|
it could be both for some people! Acknowledge that it's on purpose but it still looks like shit
let's just say visuals is not one of the reason I like the series

it seems like a weird form of trying to justify liking the series when people say it looks good or that it's just a style, i have to admit

If you did shit animation constantly then people asked if your shit animation was shit because it was intentional would you say, "No we just do shit animation"?
People sure people just can't accept they can like something while it having flaws.

Why can't they just be like Toad and like it, despite that it looks like eye cancer? + Show Spoiler +Though it boogles the mind why actual shitty animation and art doesn't bother Toad with Konosuba, but then with an actually stylistic different anime/manga like One Piece just gets categorically designated "eye cancer, won't watch" by Toad
Also, there is 0% that it is intended to look like shit. "Hey guys, lets make this anime look as bad as possible!" "Yeah, that's a great idea!" "I never liked the good art from the Light Novels anyway, fuck good art!"

Yea I have heard that theory about Konosuba before, "they made it that way because it fits with the parody nature of the show". Highly unlikely. More possible that they went full cheap skate on it hoping that because its a comedy series that the animation wouldn't matter as much and if it is a success better profit margins.
Still an awesome series but its ugly af.

lmao centaur's worries is getting an anime?
man that series is weird, canon yuri for you though Numy, zero baiting
starts out as weird but slightly cute slice of life, quickly devolves into just being plain weird + Show Spoiler +with alien abductions, time travelling and incredibly weird commentary on all kinds of political topics.
|
Good shit. Must check it out
Just watched 3-Gatsu ep 8
+ Show Spoiler +Man his step sister is so deeply unsettling. Everything about her just screams to run away and yet so drawn to her. She has these moments where I feel sorry for her then does a 180 and now I'm left wondering if it's just an act to hurt Rei or what. Dam man. This anime.
Doesn't look like 3-gatsu will fall of of AotY and anime of 2010s.
edit: Man after ep 8 I wasn't expecting that kind of episode for 9. I'm watching then suddenly the ED is playing. WTF!? This anime man. It's even more gripping than Haikyuu which was so much dam hype. The tense moments give me chills but it's really in it's uplifting and fun moments that the show comes alive. Maybe without those dark moments the light wouldn't shine as bright though.

Sounds cool tbh.

+ Show Spoiler +They shafted her I think. I don't know if she is the same in the manga. They made it very much so that you are sexually drawn to her but are disgusted by what she does to the MC. The part about the sexual attractiveness is very monogatari-esque and that's why I think this could very well be Shaft's anime-original idea.
Definitely AotY for me so far and I don't think there is much room for that to change. I don't agree with anime of the 2010's though. 2011 had Hourou Musuko, Shinsekai yori and Hunter x Hunter ffs. 2010 had Tatami Galaxy. All of those are very much ahead of 3-gatsu for me.
|
Hmm, I've been reading what manga people been saying and it doesn't seem like it's a shaft thing. She's just really dam hot. Scene with her in his shirt. Sigh. Why is fiction so dam good. Just had to break Yennefer's heart like 2 hours ago and now this woman appears. You'd think disliking a person makes them less attractive somehow but it only seems to almost amplify the feelings. Wonder if it's just a case of being poor at separating emotions properly.
As for anime of 2010(so far). Always goign to be a weird thing to talk about. Shinsekai had too many issues. If it were only 1/2 things then it'd be manageable but it was just too much. HxH arc structure makes it hard show to really judge. Some of it is absolutely incredible but at times it didn't quite evoke the same awe. If you could just isolate an arc then definitely. Still need to watch Tatami Galaxy, one of these days.
|
Shows like HxH are all about the clomplete works for me. The whole journey with all the character growth and side characters and all that shit means a lot to me even if certain arcs or episodes aren't as good in themselves. I kind of agree on SSY. For me though 3-gatsu has it's faults, too. For example I think the comedic relief is still terrible most of the times so that's a huge issue for me. Overall SSY had less big issues for me than 3-gatsu.
You should watch Tatami Galaxy. Did you watch Hourou Musuko?
And who is Yennefer btw?

yeah they've said that from the get go, isn't really anything new

Well, apparently the production of Rakugo was done as a batch. As in they finished the whole thing way before the season even started so there was much more time that could be spend on detail. Iirc the staff was also quite different from the usual. At least they had a decent Director. I honestly don't expect anything from Deen when they are doing a normal production.
|
Yeah rakugo was basicly shaft. I do have a feeling that the whole "omg it's intentional" thing is true if just for that.
If they get a decent director or producer who doesn't tell them that derpy looking stuff looks way better in motion they can pull something like rakugo off. Yes finishing ahead of time helps but I don't think they had different animators? So just need someone in charge who doesn't tell his animators bullshit.

One of the main characters in Witcher 3. She's beautiful, ruthless at times but so fiercely maternal. You have to make a choice between continuing her love or not. Really hits you hard since even though she's not as kind or loving as the other main character you still can't help feel for her so the rejection along with her normal cool facade slipping away for an instant is just brutal.
I don't really see the issue with the comedic relief in 3-gatsu. This episode for example was fantastic in that it showed Rei that people are just people. Having 40 years of experience doesn't suddenly make them robots. The comedy was just driving home that this guy has always been a silly old man who loves Shogi and nothing will make that change. Don't just need seriousness to push through a point. The small cute/funny moments is what really ties it together for me. The "theme" of the show almost seems like everyone is human, everyone has their dark and light sides and everyone has their good and bad. His half sister is so much more painful because you see that there's a part of her that is a nice person that cares for him.
Honey and Clover does this kind of thing as well, may just be the authors style but man do I enjoy it. I think I'd stop watching if it was just all serious. My heart can no longer do that kind of thing.

Ah ok, yes those kind of characters play the "intriguing" card. Subconsciously we are intrigued by the lust end the endless possibilities. That being said, that would never work in real life. The advantage of being a fictional character in this regard is that you can reduce it to a few point, it remains a fantasy of a single trait. In real life you would just be disgusted and don't consinder the person to become your girlfriend or anything.
About the comic relief: It's not about that it is done at all. I was very much ok with the old man being silly. However, I don't agree with the way they did it. The sudden, way over the top reaction completely pull me out of the realistic inner monologues the show gives me before. It feels like being hit by a baseball bat. It's like watching a "feels" moment in a movie with your GF and she suddenly starts screaming like a drunk person. So for me the problem is the abruptness and that it is way over the top.
I have watched ep1 of Honey & Clover the other day and it was fine. So far the comedy there worked better for me than in 3-gatsu, probably because they didn't have the harsh contrast (yet?).
