The 3 sidestories all have different casts of characters and are unrelated aside from setting.
Watched the first episode of code geass and hated everything about it. Every single character was spouting bullshit from some B rated action movie, the melodrama was turned up to eleven, the villains acted like they came from a saturday morning cartoon and there's the whole "muh glorious nippon" stuff.
Worst of all though is that it took itself 100% seriously, I would've loved it if it at least was self-aware about how silly everything was.
Thanks, that's the most useful guide to gundam i've seen so far.

Yeah normally he is full of shit + Show Spoiler + but that guide and the mecha one are probably the best guide to anime anything Ive ever read. Although I in fairness I can count on my fingers the amount of guides Ive ever had to read.

It also has some of the most retarded 'twists' i've seen in anime.

It also has some of the most retarded 'twists' i've seen in anime. Can you spoil me on them ? I'm curious now and i'm not gonna continue watching it anyway. + Show Spoiler +Well to give an example, at one point MC is having trouble with his powers growing stronger and then he jokingly tells a friend about his power and literally says, for no good reason, "i could for example order you to murder all japanese" while she's trying to make it so the japanese get better living quality and just as he says that his powers go fully out of control and forces her to kill japanese constantly and ordering guards to murder them too meaning they have to kill her. This all happens at the end of season 1 which basically screamed, oh we were about to conclude the series but i guess we need a season 2, bring in an absolutely fucking retarded twist to keep things going.
It also made no sense, even if he had to explain what his power was why would he use a command that awful and that specific? Almost made me stop watching but my friends kept insisting i should keep going so i finished it, and season 2 wasn't any better.

That's absolutely retarded and hilarious, dodged a bullet there.

Both the budget and episode count felt rather small since so many impactful scenes ended up being underwhelming but the story aged well for a late 70's show intended to sell toys. The tone of the show was pretty inconsistent though and the whole newtype thing felt pretty jarring since I never expected gundam to contain something like that but i'm not particularly against it. Favorite parts were + Show Spoiler [MSG spoilers] +the arc where Amuro fought Ramba Ral and the last 3 episodes. I thought Ramba Ral was just a throwaway villain at first but he ended up being one of my favorite characters. The last 3 episodes were simply great, I have nothing else to add there. I'll be checking out the rest of UC gundam soon and see where I'll go from there on, Might also watch some AU gundam if they're really nessecary to fully appreciate Turn A Gundam. Its a tricky question to say what is and what isn't necessary for Turn A. Its a stand alone story, but the context is set by previous Gundam series, and its just packed full of homages and 'Easter Eggs'. I think you would probably be alright if you had watched the original, Zeta, and Char's Counterattack, as far as context goes.
Zeta Gundam looks a lot better than the original, also. For its time, Zeta Gundam looked great, and the BDs are out for it too, so enjoy!

Got to ep. 13 of ReZero, so close to dropping this series. MC is so annoying and it isn't just the recent fit - been annoying the entire series.
Also, pacing is fairly bad. Seems to always happen to traveling-back-in-time stuff.

Don't worry, it's only 5 more episodes until a good episode comes. The MC is total shit in that episode as well though. After that it's the same as before.

I think when it's about ReZero it's something like this: people who praised it a lot all thought the 2nd half was better than the first people who only thought it was average or even thought it was bad generally though the first half was way better
At least felt that way when I was reading through here when it finished airing. I think I remember Holy talking about how everyone thinks the 2nd half is better thinking to myself that I liked the first half better and seeing the same in other people who thought it was only about average.
So what I'm trying to get at here: Aside from that one episode Miragee is talking about it's all downhill from there Souma! I still maintain that the Studio and production (not necessarily animation quality, more like how to work with your music, the cliffhangers etc.) was the main reason it was enjoyable

So Toad thinking the first half of Re Zero is better almost guarantees that the second half will be better.
Thanks Toad, I'll continue watching.

why so mean

I thought re:zero was average and i difinitely thought the second half was better than the first half, not by a super significant amount tho

The true answer is that both halves were good and you all have shit taste :p

I watch less nowaydays but Hibike always puts a small on my face

+ Show Spoiler [Gankutsuou ep14] +Still quite solid but I think this show would be far more interesting if Albert wasn't a naive retard with an IQ below 100. The count's action would have to be way more thoughtful. This way he could just be super evil in his horror estate with the game and drop hints about his true self everywhere but Albert is still following him blindly. The rest is good though. Although Eugenie's father and the wannabe blondie can die for all I care.
