That girl kissed him, then that other girl kissed her and the only thing the third girl was thinking is "indirect kiss"? loooooooooool It's not like she should be bothered more because of the direct kiss, no it's the indirect one. Japan pls. xD
And what the hell was the ping pong scene? Could have been an intro for an SM hentai also, lol. This anime. Must be awkward as fuck to do that for american TV with real people, lol. haven't read up on it other than seeing the headlines but I wouldn't be surprised if they're sticking to strictly arc1 and nothing else
Now that I re-read what you just wrote I realized you're talking about the arc2 rape at the VERY end. I thought about the almost-tentacle-rape. THAT would be weird

The fucking twins arc man. Sigh. I feel like rock but punching things hurts too much.

If it's just S1 then it's kinda fine, that's mostly a generic fantasy romp with some drama and romance piled in. But we'll see, I guess.

no live action alicization arc. rip. I hope they adapt more than aincrad just so i can watch this arc.

I doubt they will even get to ALO...but its not like TV shows have never had sexual violence before. Though I guess it depends on where they want to air it. Plenty of shows have surpassed a dude tying up and groping a woman. What was more awkward was just how bat shit crazy they drew the baddies face and the VA went mental with the voice. Anime does that a lot with "crazy" bad guys, they have them ramp up the crazy acting. They would probably just tone it down.
Edit: Personally I wouldn't mind if they just only covered the 1st arc but just do it Progressive style.

Yeah that's what I meant. Not the sexual violence in general but the way it was done. It was more of a joke on my side though...

I mean there's enough shit series. Why would I want a shitty anime story adapted into a shitty tv series. We need good fantasy and Sci-fi. SAO is neither.

I actually makes me sad that it's so damn rare to have a great sci-fi anime. Fantasy is even more rare I feel... I mean, take a look back this year: Not a single damn sci-fi or fantasy anime came out that was actually great. Well, maybe it's the wrong year because there wasn't a series in any genre that was actually great...or even very good... Such a sad year, bleh.
//just checked, the most recent (as in newest) great sci-fi/fantasy anime I watched aired before I started watching anime seasonally: Shinsekai yori in 2012. Damn.

I found mob psycho to be good this week. It was pretty predictable toward the end but I like the situational irony.

Stuff like Durarara is perfectly good fantasy. Sci-fi is pretty hard since a lot of "sci-fi" tends to really just be fantasy. Gundam shows are normally decent on this when they trying to be good instead of just being whatever the hell some of it is. Moe Pirates is pretty nice for the space exploration side of things. I was about to say Ergo proxy wasn't too bad but then I realized it's from 10 years ago. WTF. Mushishi is also great mix of fantasy and sci-fi. It's a fantasy setting but pulls a lot from more traditional sci-fi. Humanity has declined is great.
It's not really just an anime thing. Sci-fi over the years has kind of gotten bludgeoned to death. You don't really get the slower pace social commentary focused stuff like TNG anymore on TV. Gems pop up every now and then but idk just seems to be a dying genre in favour of the "actionay" side of things which is really just fantasy with technology.
edit: Hell even the campy adventure/exploration sci-fi like Stargate is dead.

The show seems to have a slow moving plot as it seems episodic so far and the show focuses on making at least one unique comedic scenario every episode. Comedy is pretty hard, probably the hardest genre to make (that and romance) since people are so different in what they like and expect. Hard to captivate a large audience that way. How is it holding up for you overall?

Durarara is pretty good indeed but I wouldn't personally put it up there as being great. Mushishi is indeed great. Haven't watched the sequels yet. Still hoping for a dub, I liked Ginko's english VA a lot. Humanity is declined is one of my favourite anime ever but that one is from 2012 like Shinsekai yori.
And yeah, what I'm looking for are Fantasy/Sci-Fi shows that don't neglect the world-building. I want interesting concepts. I want social commentary. I want this weird feeling of exploring and experiencing something new, something strange that needs to be examined and explained.
It's sad that action is becoming more and more prevalent. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like action (-scenes). But what is wrong with also adding substance? Or having substance at base and adding action on top? Like in GitS?

And? While I certainly enjoyed it, a lot of people here hated it. And I can see why. The movie is definitely not great and had a lot of faults, they just happened to not bother me as much.

The last legit great SciFi anime for me I think was Eve no Jikan (I don't really consider Jintai to be SciFi as it is only tangentially so). TV series prob Denno Coil
