I'm using PC with blu-ray drive for playback, that certainly has a region attached to it. I remember having to pick one with a statement that I can only swap a limited amount of time (idr, low/middle single digit area) and I think my season1 Blu-Rays do have the a B/2 sign on them but not quite sure. I'll have to check but those are from the UK so chances are they're different in that regard.
Anyways, I don't buy that kind of stuff during the year and pretty much reserve it for christmas / Birthday or else I'd be poor so still plenty time. And even if, I only use the actual BDs when I want to watch with commentary. So let's be real, they're just bought to look nice :3

Oh man I'm rewatching Black Lagoon. Just got to the ep where second best maid in anime is introduced(First is obviously SF). Man forgot how casual it was. "Just one maid" Lolololololol.

Rem is still the best as I said ages ago. Subaru is a tool but he's tolerable atm. Episode 18 overall was good and I thought the start had some great revelations.

Watched Tonari no Totoro earlier today and it was fantastic.
+ Show Spoiler +Such a feel-good anime. Loved how lively it was, I had a big smile on my face for most of the movie. Only towards the end I got a bit worried that it might turn pitch black on me in a matter of minutes. Turned out it didn't. The drama they threw in was nicely done. Also loved the japanese quirkyness with the fantasy creatures. Good stuff.
Also watched Under the Dog just now (for those who don't know: it was a kickstarter funded anime). It was ok.
+ Show Spoiler +Pretty short so the story and characters suffered, which was to be expected. It was pretty much a glimpse into a brutal world. Every "main character" died by the end of the show. Damn. I must admit it was tense though. I would watch a full feature movie in this setting with more character development, a whole story and better insights to the world.
The animation was actually really good. Lots of great action scenes (the Pandora for example!), lots of great explosions! :D It had a few terribad 3D CGI scenes that seemed really out of place. Seems like they had to cut the budget a bit. But generally I was positively surprised.

I never post here, but Under The Dog just got released (Ep 0)
Interesting Plot concept, though since it's early release for backers, they still need to clean up some stuff.
Initial reactions: it was a wierd mixture of Eva and /k/. Also got me feelings
but it was a letdown :/

I ended up rating it 6/10.
There was no story to speak of, no proper characters that had any remarkable attributes or memorable dialogue. World building was reduced to throwing a few words around and.. that was pretty much it.
The redeeming thing was certainly the action, which had a good pace to it.
What you said pretty much sums up my thoughts about it. It was like a good teaser for a proper movie or TV series that would need to flesh out all the things that didn't get any attention due to the length of the OVA.
Taboo Tattoo continued to be shit and finally pushed me over the edge, going to drop this stinker. I feel the show doesn't know whether it wants to be taken serious or not, which results in something that doesn't work in either category.
The action is very hard to follow and not well choreographed, it appears like there are missing frames quite often. I had to rewind a few times during the action scenes to see what is actually going on.
For a show that is based around combat and action scenes, it does a piss poor job at establishing what the powers of the characters are.
"Ah ok, now he is immune to bullets shot directly into his head at close range, good to know..." wait, why is his face bloody then? Did the bullet enter his head and cause damage or did it not?
And there were many scenes like this were there is blood all over the place with a character pretty much dead from insane blood loss alone, then a moment later he continues the fight as if nothing had happened and all the blood is suddenly gone.
Then you have your generic stupid scenes where a character get's the drop on his enemy only to alarm him to his presence by shouting some nonsense.
I could go into much more detail but I feel like the effort would be wasted. It is a bad show, no matter how you look at it and I don't really feel like analyzing it too much.

to be honest, if you compare the original trailer to Ep 0, the trailer was for a short length film.
Today's EP 0 is a pilot for a episodic series which imo dilutes the quality alot. And it does show
