I did enjoy G Reco. Its true, the characters were dumb, some more than others. For me at least, that didn't bother me, since I don't mind dumb people acting dumb. G Reco's storytelling is also much more... subtle, I guess, than your average anime. And that is mostly fine, although there is one event around episode 3ish that would be pretty crucial to the plot that they just... don't show! It boggles my mind why they omitted it. + Show Spoiler + Said scene being Bellri being asked to 'infiltrate' the pirates and spy on them by... I forget his name, the old dude. + Show Spoiler + Long ago, due to Wars and the like, the Earth was pretty much devastated. Now the Earth is recovering. A new religion, SU-Cordism, exists and maintains world peace. In order to not repeat the mistakes of the past, SU-Cordism has certain taboos against certain technological progress. Its seat of power is Capitol Tower, which is a massive Space Elevator. Capitol Tower receives and distributes Photon Batteries, a clean energy source upon which the entire world operates on. Due to the above, while the Capitol Tower is a mostly beign and peaceful organization, they are the defacto leaders of the world, being that they decide who gets Photon Batteries, and who doesn't. This has created friction with them and other countries of the world, such as Ameria (a country who wants more Photon Batteries, and a country who wants to advance technology farther than what SU-Cordism allows). Enter the Pirates from the first couple of episodes. And thus begins an adventure about a bunch of stupid people who get caught up in an escalating, multi-faction war resulting in virtually every faction getting fed up with the status quo. Included are some of the greatest Mecha battles ever to be animated. I know some people who liked it a lot, and others who hated it, and others who watched it for the orgasmic mecha battles. It may just be that G Reco isn't for you.

It's not just that they were dumb, they just didn't make sense. Maybe I was missing something? Like, they arrested the crazy girl (I don't remember anyone's names) and then the bitchy redhead, and then they were like "oh yeah crazy green haired girl walk around no problem" and the main dude was like "yeah let me break out this totally confrontational pirate chick from prison because I like her after seeing her one time" and everyone just seemed to be doing stuff with no motivation other than redhead girl. I dunno, just expected something different I guess.

That said, it does have some really unique mecha designs and fights. Heck, there's a shower curtain mecha! If that sounds like a stupid concept, that's because it is, but goddamn does it look good in action. It also makes for some pretty novel combat. In comparison, IBO's fights are really boring.

I dunno, just expected something different I guess. Raraiya wasn't actually arrested, although she was under observation/suspicion. The second issue you mentioned is related to that first spoiler I mentioned in my post, where for whatever reason, a crucial scene just got completely omitted from the show. Everyone has motivation, the question is just is their motivation spelt out to the viewer, or is their motivation rational. I viewed the show as a puzzle to work on as the show progressed, piecing together setting information and character motivations revealed later on that provide reasons for prior actions that seemed nonsensical at the time. Yeah, nothing really touches G Reco in uniqueness of fights. The shower curtain one was great, the one that fires a tree was great, and just in general the fights were so well animated, choreographed, and chaotic that it puts them pretty far ahead most TV Gundam series. IBO is so painfully boring... Like a single decent fight so far in the entire anime.

Not just the donuts. That ending was also quite glorious. Something for everyone in this story.

Obi's old companion seems pretty cool. More info in Bahamut. + Show Spoiler + Show hasn't felt the same though since a couple of episodes with this whole ruins and Ragnarok business. Feel like they could've done more proper explanations but maybe I missed something from earlier episodes. Whatever happened to just cute girls (well, mostly krulcifer, best girl!) wanting to be with MC! Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm: + Show Spoiler + well, not really unexpected lol. Wish they'll dig deeper into the mysterious boy although it's kinda obvious who it is Not much else to say, just want to see more FC matches!

The series was tagged with a romance tag and some of the taglines for the series billed it as a story about finding love in the skies or something like that. Its a VN source tho so maybe they are just focusing on other things and the romance is all in the VN routes t.t

Its better then main story~ Novels haven't been translated yet afaik but they got picked up for english release. The manga you can find though. Basically what Neo said her POV and her own adventures with her people (with all higher level chars obv) So not so much the struggle of working your way up from nothing since they are basically the 1%ers of adventurers lol. Loki familia ftw~ Riviera x Aizu is so cute :3

No word on the studio that's going to make SO but I hope it's JC Staff as well? How often do series get animated by two different studios (sequel/spinoffs/etc). Only one that vaguely comes to mind is Fate.

The animation and characters generally speaking looked really good imo, which made the 2-3 moments you had CGI people look so much worse because... CGI people... A bit sad that they left out the internal monologue and it's very obvious that it's just part 1 out of 3. So you're going to get cliffhangered like crazy if you don't already know Saw It yesterday. Yeah It was mixed. I was pretty high when i watched it and it was just gorgeous. But again not much of a story yet. What I remember more is the panty shots since that shit was awkward as fuck lol. I think there where 3 other guys in the theater and I hold myself from laughing at those scenes and the weirdness of the situation. People weren't like "Hey you like that show with the pedophile too!" XD
