I can't remember exactly what you are talking about, but in general, normally the only time you can communicate Mobile Suit-to-Mobile Suit is either when out of combat, or when direct contact between Mobile Suits is established. Otherwise Minovsky Particles disrupt communication too much of anything intelligible to get through. So maybe there just isn't a pressing need for any more security to their communication channels. + Show Spoiler +They often talk to eachother when this doesn't happen though. Sometimes it's because they're both newtypes I think but more often it's for the plot I guess.

Granted, its been a while so I can't exactly remember specific circumstances.

+ Show Spoiler +hah, I'll keep that in mind.^^
Hm, one example from the last episode: Emma was in her Mobile Suit shouting commands etc. and Capricorn was like "Hey, I know that voice, that's Emma! How dare you to fight your own kind!?". Maybe it's like you said and they could only hear each other because they were close enough. But still, shouldn't they cover regardless to prevent the enemy from eavesdroping into their on-battlefield tactical conversations?

+ Show Spoiler +I have only read up until 39 but all I hear from people who comment on the series is whining about how all the ships are sinking lol. No MCxKayo or with Airi. Poor mc is going to have a bad time of it lol. Though the title could be suggestive of this.

90% of the reason I'm still watching Dagashi Kashi is because I really like Saya and hope her and the main character get together in the end somehow. Otherwise I'm meh on it atm.

Pretty sure mc won't end with any of them when the show ends.

I know Gate never really makes sense but... + Show Spoiler +What kind of shitty assassin do you have to be to use a crossbow at point blank range as an assassination tool? The whole point of ranged weapons is to keep the user safe, shoot from the crowd or something, instead the guy exposes himself and makes his intent obvious and fails to kill Lelei.
The point of the series is to stop a war between the Empire and Japan to save lives, but if a war started it could still be ended quickly through bloody or almost clean methods. The Empire barely understands guns, they wouldn't understand sniper rifles. The Japanese cook is also directly feeding Zorzal so poison could work. The Empire has no defenses against armored or aerial vehicles other than maybe mages and even they wouldn't be able to stop a jet bombing run due to it's speed.

Everything you say is quite true, however + Show Spoiler +you need to take into account the cultural differences as well. Poison as a political tool is something that the feudal empire seems quite comfortable with, as is sacrificing large numbers of troops in the belief that they can win. And quality > quantity, certainly, but quantity can have a quality all on its own - technologically inferior armies do have methods to fight effectively against modern arms. That's why the generals Zoldork spoke with clearly eschewed any kind of remotely straight on engagement. Because of their cultural differences and more likely their (to our eyes) amoral leadership, they can put up some resistance. While Pina is quite right in her knowledge that Japan could annihilate the Empire completely, and Japan has the advanced warfighting combined arms to do so, both don't catch on to the problem that Japan has - the same one that most countries currently have had post WWII. While they can fight an unrestricted or total war, they are loathe to do so (and I imagine generally pacifist Japan more so than most). Not unlike during the Korean War, when a general was relieved of command for suggesting atomic bombs to stop the war. There isn't an appetite for the kind of total, unrestricted warfare and potential for collateral (aka, noncombatant) casualties and devastation that results. At the moment, Japan is treating the Empire as another state - and there are rules for warfare. Not that the Empire knows or cares.
As for the assassin, I'm guessing he failed to be good. It would've been easier to shoot from further away, but maybe he wanted to be sure that defensive magic wouldn't stop him?
Anyways, the whole idea of technologically disparate societies meeting has been done ad nauseum in SciFi. (Hell, I can think of at least three different series by David Weber that address this kind of thing.)

Your analysis is spot on IMO.
Still, one could wonder why the + Show Spoiler +assassin(s) were so dumb. Wouldn't a dagger or a sword (just like how he goes pierced) be a better weapon to perform the task? Also, random knight appears... guess the assassins weren't very subtile... That and Lelei probably has a plot armor!
Granted, we have little information on how the Mages defend themselves against weapons. They could be the most OP "class" in that universe, after the Dragons
This episode showed some interesting developments, I thought. + Show Spoiler +The Empire's desire (led by Prince + Friends) to fight some sort of guerrila war instead of waging a battle on an open field seems like the correct choice of tactic, especially in an asymmetric warfare (empire vs Japan), and could allude to how our Modern countries are having trouble fighting against insurgents in urban areas, or against an invisible enemy that will not hesitate to go against all rules of engagement.
Of course, I have little faith in the show taking the "hard" route. IMO, Itami and friends will easily thwart whatever schemes the Prince + friends have... Which is sad because the show could have taken an "unique" turn! The war could become some sort terrorist-esque armies vs Japan's superior armies + Public opinion that might not desire casualties + collateral damages!

Tengenn Toppa Gurenn Lagann related. + Show Spoiler +Finished the series. I guess the first half set the trend for the whole series so I cant blame it. Merge Lagann with something - get bigger and so on. Screw the repetetiveness. The first half got me thinkin that the most unorthodox things are what make anime stand out. Watch it? For sure!
Do the impossible, See the Invisible, Touch the untouchable, Break the unbreakable.
