If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.ggFor currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net |
the thing that holds that together: The vast majority of the shows I rated highly are some sort of comedy. So if it has any of that (and I don't hate it like Haganai) it'll end up higher on my list because it at least had that for me. And let's be honest, girls do make a difference. So that's the saving grace for IS because Laura and Charlotte.
School Days just has not a single saving grace for me.
I DO have non-comedy shows up there and some are even rated highly. Madoka (10/10), F/Z actually got a 8/10 from me, Gakkou Gurashi is an 8/10. Dimension W from this season I like a lot. Boku Dake i like A LOT. Those will be up there but for me to like those kinds of shows I have to really think they're good rather than just "fine" and be carried by the overall genre.

You just say that other harems like IS are EQUALLY unrealistic. And I don't disagree with that either. No problem to be found here at all.
It's just that if they have other merits chances are I still watch them.
Sent... it's not like I got in here and complained about School Days being unrealistic. Someone got in here and said it IS REALISTIC to which I responded it isn't at all. It's shitty, way over the top melodrama thrown together. That's a difference. I didn't get in here and complain about it being unrealistic because like you said, in that case I'd have to shit on IS and co as well. I just don't think it's particularly realistic either.
Speaking of other things that Sent hates: I really like the OP in Grimgar. You know, those scenes with the outlines being in different colors and all. So pretty :3

Ep 3 of Schwarzesmarken was kinda meh. The fighting was alright, but nothing we haven't seen before. From what I've read, they've totally butchered everyone's character development, which is kind of a shame because some of it actually sounded pretty good. + Show Spoiler +I assume Lise is a Stasi sympathizer because the MC clearly doesn't meet the suffering quota.
Pretty boring uta2 ep.

Boku Dake 3 + Show Spoiler + Mmm well the teacher is the obvious red herring maybe? But didn't his mom say something about the guy being familiar? I also wonder what that last scene was about with the kid talking to the teacher at night.
Obligatory: The mother, what a cunt.

Cool, where did you find the torrent?

Chevalier D'Eon! I enjoyed it alot but for some reasons I never finished it. Maybe, like you said, it's because the quality dropped... let me know if you finish it. If so, let me know if it's worth it
Sure. I don't have a lot of time at hand for watching anime atm. so it will take a couple of days or so but I'll let you know.

When in doubt, check xdcc.
|
I just used one with like 2 seeders on Nyaa and after a few days of letting it go it finished. Xdcc would prob be better but it's more effort then I got distracted by Strike Witches OVA(Which was freaking fantastic btw).
|
Canada8033 Posts
Pls. Xdcc takes no effort at all. Put the vhost on your accepted list then just batch download.
If you're talking about operation victory arrow, I was sorely disappointed at the lack of Sanya and Eila.
|
Lack of Sanya and Eila was pretty bad but you see I thought there was no more Strike Witches to watch so getting anything even if it lacks best couple is still good. Although it did open up with 2nd best couple so it gave us that. Those dam pesky Germans.
I just haven't set up xdcc so it's effort to do that even though it's easy once done. Inertia man! Science!

Shirayuki was good like always! And... + Show Spoiler +Miragee was spot on with his analysis. Prince Izana didn't even deny it and it's clear after one episode. ^^
Prince Raj is almost becoming likeable. Lots of funny and awkward scenes. Like when they talked and Shirayuki didn't know what to say. Or when they walked over the water and Prince Raj was the one who had to get carried lol.

He's watching out for Zen but there's also this scent of secrecy around his actions.
I think overall, Prince Raj has become likable now. He's been turning over a new leaf ever since his trip to Clarines and he seems to be trying really hard to be friends with Shirayuki despite some of his outbursts.

Stop taking people's opinions as fact and make your own decision regarding the show! It's really not terrible at all imo. Sure, it has an extreme ending and at times makes you want to pull your hair out lol but I gave it a thumbs up because the author was ballsy compared to all other similar anime. Aside from a couple of things, it also feels a bit more realistic and paints a dark world which is a change from the usual. how in the WORLD is school days supposed to be realistic. Like what?!? My school days were nothing like that but hey, maybe I just missed out somehow. It's like a cheap soap opera you watch and you constantly ask yourself "why aren't they just doing X instead of this ridiculously convoluted plot ... oh right, the drama has to come from somewhere". At any given point this whole show could have ended by just walking up there and saying + Show Spoiler +"yeah sorry, this really isn't working out". Instead we get this weird chick who has never dated anyone in her life, falls in love and because that doesn't work out after like... 3 days she goes full psycho for the rest of the year!?! And you're supposed to feel sad for her (I guess) but the situation being so stupid just makes that utterly impossible and you just end up laughing about the poor kid that gets bullied by EVERYONE in the school because she's fucking crazy. man that shit made me angry. But it's fine, because there's that compilation on youtube of all the Bad Endings + Show Spoiler +read: all (?) the endings and you get to watch all the weird shit and laugh as someone gets pushed in front of a train or has his/her throat sawed open with a breadknife. + Show Spoiler [School Days] +So, guys becoming speechless and constantly falling over girls and groping them once to twice every single episode is somehow more realistic than someone getting depressed over a failed relationship? We also don't even know much about kotonoha and her past from what I remember. For all you know, she was someone battling depression and this failed relationship, regardless of its duration, pushed her back into it.
Yes, the ending was really extreme because Sekai was the one who killed him (probably saw it as cheating on her lol) but you also can't deny that jealousy has caused people to do a lot of things that they've regretted after the fact (not justifying her actions btw). Aside from the ending and the prolonged sadness of Kotonoha (this can be argued with my point above), most of what happened can be considered realistic to a decent degree. Guy who only thinks about getting laid likes someone, gets to be with her but it is very difficult considering his personality then he gets "stolen" away by the instigator who gives him what he wants. He still doesn't get enough of it, is "somewhat" lol addicted and goes around to try and get more of it.
As for Kotonoha, she gets isolated from her classmates (she already had a bit of a withdrawn or quiet personality if I remember properly) especially after the baby news (or whatever news select classmates started to talk behind her back to get her isolated, don't remember unfortunately). Spirals even deeper into depression, between the failed relationship and the isolation then becomes a psycho after Makoto is killed. Yes, she should've just distanced herself from him after it failed and found a way around it (with family support, dunno why didn't happen). However, you can argue that overall, school days was somewhat realistic when considering other anime of the same genre.
Only reason it gets bad rep is because the ending was unexpected, especially coming from Sekai and because it's hard to cheer for a specific character. It's also not a lovey-dovey anime so you don't end up feeling great or anything after watching it. I remember feeling really shocked at the cellphone scene towards the end. Even till now, I still remember more about this anime than some of the other ones I've watched afterwards.

+ Show Spoiler +I think its pretty obvious he is testing their meddle for their possible future wedding. Making sure Shirayuki can handle being part of the royal family and if Zen won't slack off because he is in love.
As for School Days, even if you take out the ending the anime is still pretty bad.

just a friendly PSA - don't watch Divine Gate
the story so far is non existant, characters not interesting, random poetry bullshit doesn't help and the dialogue psychically hurt me
