Hahahah, I had the exact same feeling on those retarded commanders.
It seems like this series is complicated enough and has enough WTF moment that we could probably discuss it quite a lot on an episode by episode basis. We could do something like they do in literary clubs : restrain ourselves to watch only a few episodes a day, say 4, and then discuss it thoroughly. That could be possible if we're both at the beginning. But maybe you would prefer to watch it all fast rather than waiting for a slow busy guy like me.
There could be a few people around in this thread who would like to do this too. If they never watched it but always wanted to or something. It could be interesting to coordinate.
Just an idea though. Seems more interesting to watch this serie with the ability to discuss it than without.
|
Yeah, I only watched the first ep.
And that sounds like a great idea. I wouldn't mind waiting. It would probably help me understand some stuff too. Plus there are a few people here who have seen most of it, who can help as well.
|
Great! I'm only at episode 8, so you can catch up to that whenever you want. I already have some stuff to say about it. So, December 31st goal could be episode 8, if you do not think it's a problem. January 1st : 12. Etc. I'll write my thoughts on the first 8 later tonight when I expect you to have caught up. That way, we'll always make sure that someone will be at the same place as us and interested in discussing it!
Looks like one of the best anime of all times really.
|
I still need need to torrent it. I'll need some time, lol.
|
Hahaha, didn't think about that. Alright then, January 1st is a good time for episode 8 then? Or would you prefer January 2nd? I'm not in a hurry, I can also wait
|
January 2, if it's not too much trouble. I have a job interview at 9 am so I need to go to bed in a few minutes. I can spend all day tomorrow torrenting this batch with eps 1-28, and marathon 2-8 on Saturday.
|
Does anyone know where I can find an image that showcases the anime the will begin airing the next season? I'm looking for something similar to what is in the OP.
|
Alright then. That'll leave some time to other members in this thread to jump in this Legend of Galactic Heroes community watch too
Looking forward this great discussion. I also think 2 a day past January 2nd (so episode 10 for January 3rd, episode 12 for January 4th, etc) would be much better since it would be very hard to catch up if someone miss a day. 4 is doable, but 8 is harder. 2 days late would be quite annoying. Also, I thought about it, but 4 is too much to discuss. There's just so many stuff happening in there. At a rate of 2 episodes a day though, we should go through the whole serie in 2 months.

LOGH:
Its explained later, in a episode that is more or less a documentary on the founding of the Empire, so this isn't really spoilers. When the Galactic Empire was founded, the 1st Emperor was himself German. He formed an aristocracy made up of people of mainly German heritage. He also carried out a Hitler-like purge and sterilization of the handicapped, homosexuals, and probably various minorities. That is why they are all mostly German on the Empire's side.
And it certainly does seem like everyone other than Yang on the alliance side is completely incompetent at that stage haha. But as the series progresses, you meet and follow talented admirals and staff officers on both sides, so its not entirely one sided.

Y'all just a buncha haters.
Ika Musume went FAR under the radar. It was such a consistent show compared to the majority of the other series that started well this season (I'm looking at you OreImo, Index, MM!, and Fortune Arterial), being pretty enjoyable from beginning to end. I wouldn't say that it was the BEST of this entire year but the series definitely needs more attention.
Also surprised at the lack of love for Katanagatari; I myself have yet to see it but every time I hear someone talk about it, I hear nothing but the utmost respect and praise about it, so it had to at least be a decent series in some manner.
I don't even want to start about ranting about Angel Beats!; the series is overhyped in every sense, both praise and criticism, and everyone should really just leave it alone. It has a great setting and potential but it failed HARD to capitalize on either; even treating it primarily as a comedy, Angel Beats! still remains as an overall average series. I also fail to link any large participation with KEY Studios when only two members actually contributed anything (Maeda, the concept and music, and NaGa for the character designs) and everything else was delivered by others.
Oh and you are all forgetting that there is clearly one show that beats ALL of your praised series:

I HATE stupid characters, and that made the first ~20 episodes of the show really really dull.
Honestly, what are the odds that everyone in a position of power but one on both sides are complete morons? It's beyond absurd. That, and the fact that there are a number of ridiculously plot-convenient events ("Oh look, the exact person on a planet of 1 billion people I needed to run into!" And that happens multiple times) made it really difficult for me to take the first part of the show seriously.

Its like even before episode 50, all the incompetent people in the Alliance military had died. The Empire's side wasn't nearly as bad in terms of incompetence, since Reinhart gather so many good admirals around him early on.
Although, it has been a while since I've watched the first 25 episodes, so I don't remember exact what those plot-convenient events you are talking about.

+ Show Spoiler [Shiki ep.22] + Wow, nice end. I'm kinda glad some shiki survived though. Makes the ending all the better IMO. A 1-sided, absolute victory would have ruined it for me to be honest. Also is it just me or did the junior monk(Muroi?) turn into a werewolf himself? Seems like he doesn't get sleepy in the car heading into the dawn. Anyway, it was a good run. Surprisingly better than I imagined when I first started to watched this.

Super specific not related question incoming ...
I've been trying to find the piano version of the ending theme to 07Ghost. I know for a fact it plays in one of the later episodes, but I've been unable to find the exact episode/time. I've listened through the OSTs several times but can't find this track. If any1 has found it please let me know, it was quite epic.

Not to say the mistery chick making random claims for hype reasons. God if i hate this show, it will be hard to go past episode 2 ;_;
Trying to go on episode 3 right now. Those were my exact feelings when I tried to watch Clannad, and now it is indefinitely on hold after the first couple of episodes. thoughts? Have you seen Clannad? They are both romcom, and from what I've seen, people who enjoy one generally enjoy the other. School days has a better ending. :p Also, I'm not sure if you want to be watching to highschool romcoms back to back. Generally I dislike watching similar shows right next to each other. School days has the best ending of every anime ever. Berserk (anime) had a better ending. Its not even that amazingly animated. I seriously think people overrate that show's animation. Is it better than most other gundams which use the same purple/pink explosion scene like 50 times? Yes. But it is no where near "amazingly animated" unless you compare it to other gundam shows.

How did the Berserk anime end? With the eclipse? Followed only the manga, never the anime.

How does the Empire and Alliance still have so many ships and personnel after fighting a war for 110 years? You'd think they'd have next to nothing.

All right, Thratur. I got LoGH 1-12 torrented. I'll watch 2-8 tonight.

+ Show Spoiler [Shiki ep.22] +I am of the opinion of Ozaki that they (the villagers) lost. Everyone lost. That's what I loved the most about the ending. For Muroi, we can guess he was sucked enough so that when he died, he revived as a Shiki. And him being a jinrou is kind of unexplained, but we can see some kind of pattern with Yukki. No funeral? Strong will even on the edge of death?
Ferrose : Hurray! Hope you'll enjoy this first part. My guess on all those ships would be that this war was more intidimidation than actual fight. The empire could always hide behind their fortress, etc.

Most other Gundam shows are animated like shit compared to Unicorn. Name a show with better animation so I can laugh at you.
Ferrose : Hurray! Hope you'll enjoy this first part. My guess on all those ships would be that this war was more intidimidation than actual fight. The empire could always hide behind their fortress, etc. I wondered that too. But we can't really say there weren't any battles before LoGH started, since there are several prequel movies and OVAs before the main series started. I guess all we can say are there were rarely decisive battles before it started, other than maybe a large battle ever decade or so. Its not really the ships that made me wonder where they got them all (because with the sheer number of ships in this show, they must be easily manufactured), but the personnel.
