Things that come to my mind are Monster, GitS: Stand Alone Complex... A movie would probably be easier though, so there is GitS (1995). I could also very well imagine that she would enjoy ghibli movies like Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away etc. What's her native language btw. It's actually weird but it's one of the most important things to consider. I know my mom wouldn't watch japanese stuff with sub titles. If your mom's english is good then my above suggestions are all legit because they all have an english dub. For my mom I had to look out for german dubs because her english isn't too great I guess. Movies are easier to find in other languages as well. she's native english. Ive spoken to her about watching something together for a while now and she'd be ok with subs. we've seen foreign films before that are subtitled and it wasn't a big deal. I figured ghibli movies would be the best option. She really has a large variety in tastes (based off what she reads...b/c we usually share books a lot). She likes romancy things but also human stories and culture/era pieces and even some sci-fi (like ender's game and Asimov's Foundation) or fantasy (like eragon inheritance series or LoTR). We're also both foodies...when i was watching souma i would tell her about it sometimes and she said she might be interested in watching it (even after i explained to her about what ecchi is and how that show is filled with ecchi). I think I'm gonna start with a movie or two and then if she wants more we'll look into some series to watch together.

There will probably be more shows announced so I'm not worrying about winter yet. Too much of a hassle to think 9 weeks ahead for this

Sakurako-san seems to settle itself as the "enjoyable episode a week" show. On October 23 2015 05:24 IceHism wrote: There will probably be more shows announced so I'm not worrying about winter yet. Too much of a hassle to think 9 weeks ahead for this That's what I was thinking as well.

At least we got that PA Works adaption to look forward too. And GATE I guess... Anime is so fcking ded boys. On a unrelated note: Anyone got neat desktop anime wallpapers they want to share? I usually found a lot of really cool ones in that desktop wallpaper thread, but that place is dead now. These are currently my top 3 favorite. I shuffle between them every now and then on my laptop. + Show Spoiler +

Quality is usually far higher than the average anime drawing

Its hard to say for certain since it hasn't come out, and the source for Schwarzesmarken isn't translated. What I do know is that it takes place a decade or so before Alternative (in the 1980s iirc), and is really grimdark. And unlike Total Eclipse, takes place on the front lines (so we should get plenty of fighting, people getting eaten, and dispair). Also Yukarin is playing the villain. Due to being both a side story and a prequel, you should be good to watch it without any prior Muvluv stuff under your belt. TE was a let down, so its hard to predict how good this will be.

It's not anime, but if there were a story and an anime done I'd watch it for the art style. Example: + Show Spoiler + On October 22 2015 13:33 Frolossus wrote: i finished both seasons of oregairu today. not too sure how i feel about it. + Show Spoiler + i was expecting confessions at the end but got nothing so it didn't feel satisfying i guess? I'm pretty sure Yui and Yukino both know how the other feels, and that poor bastard Hachiman knows as well. It's all very indirect, however, and the second season turned much more dramatic than the first one. I somewhat agree that he'd probably be better off marrying the teacher.

I wouldn't count on that continuation. Pretty sure that ending is supposed to encourage LN sales.
