I don't know why you said beach/hot spring, went it was just the hot spring episode. The beach episode isn't till later.

It's too hard to watch to have no payoff in the end Its exactly that honestly. And they manage to make it better and better with each ep. Or worst and worst, depending on your preference. I liked it. + Show Spoiler + why are we underestimating one of the top 10 strongest armies in the world. They aren't fighting something like a terrorist group here Rest of the episode was amusing but the above part confuses me. This isn't even about it being nationalist. I just don't understand why you would take one of the strongest countries lightly as if they were like al queda.

Japan? + Show Spoiler + I think, given the pro SDF stance throughout the anime, that the US SpecOps are being portrayed as being surprised at the level of skill employed by the SDF. Which is to say, the US SpecOps force is pretty damn skillful, but you wouldn't normally consider the SDF when ranking top military operations - probably because of either bias, size, function, or recent performance (which is to say - when was the last time you heard about the SDF kicking ass? There's a reason they're called the Self-Defense Force - they don't generally get involved in outside affairs for a wide variety of reasons I don't have the space to get into) - meanwhile a lot of the commentary seems to be "Rory will crush the US, Chinese, and Russian SpecOps forces" which may be people underestimating the other SpecOps forces. They're wrong though, because I think Rory will probably call forth the Rektoning upon them. I mean, SpecOps are extremely well trained, disciplined, and tough as nails (wherever they are from) but Rory is, as has been explained, a demigod. And Terran militaries generally don't train for such 'fantastical' notions. Then again, I would find it more interesting if Lelei were to be the one stopping things - I mean, the mage has been woefully underutilized. Of course, Kuribayashi is a bad ass, so that could also happen...

Like really, I know you're(the us) the strongest military on earth but that's not a reason to underestimate a a formidable modern army in its own right. Japan is the 7th biggest spender in military iirc

Japan is the 7th biggest spender in military iirc + Show Spoiler + Japan's military spending is also like 1/14th of the US. Just looking at graphs of military spending by country, I wouldn't be surprised if the US spends more on its military than the entire rest of the world spends on their respective militaries, combined. So yeah, Japan might be one of the biggest spenders, but the amount they spend is just a fraction of the US. Plus the SDF isn't even a proper army, and hasn't ever fought a war. In the real world at least, I don't see how Japan could be considered formidable to the US in the least. I'm not trying to be nationalist or pro-America here, its just that as far as military size and spending goes, America is literally the only big fish in the pond right now. And has been fighting way too many wars all around the planet for decades. Against a tiny little island who doesn't have a proper military that has never fought a war.

It was pretty funny the us people didn't even bring night vision equipment.

From the title of the episode, I was expecting an all-out battle, but, instead, we just had the SDF nail a couple of other fighters in the dark before being asked to retreat. Expectations shattered :/ Here's to hoping that next week we see Lelei beat them all by herself! :D

Ofc, that isn't the case when it comes to anime, but that's just the nature of the beast. America would need more dakka to overcome Yamato Damashiii.

If anything there probably isn't huge a gap between the special forces of various countries. They were more likely surprised that their operation was discovered and that they were ready and waiting for them. Though it did get pretty jacking off the SDF with the dialogue of the enemy. I highly doubt any nations special forces would get as out classed as they did nor talk about how amazing the enemy is.

GATE episode was good. I understand why Souma likes Chibi military girl so much after that shot with her drunk on the floor.
