The whole point of having mecha at all is because they're cool. Design plays a lot into that. Plus nobody's going to buy the models for a mech that's ugly as fuck.
That said, some mechs are far better in action than they are in promotional stills. Turn A and G Self come to mind. So I'll reserve my judgement for now...

I thought it would be much harder, but it was really 'easy'. I guess that my 1 year teaching experience + some failed interviews helped (for those of you who are wondering what the job interview was for : Teaching position in a college, in philosophy)

College students are still quite young. While they're legally adults I still look at them as young, naive little kids who still have lots to learn.
Of course, when I was in college I didn't feel that way about myself (for the most part) :D

college here can be like 14-18. or 28 if you're a professional dota player like me
usually its for the kids who didnt get along in the normal public schools and drop out to do something like hairdressing or childcare instead of A Levels
probably when you're 60 you'll look at 30 year olds and think they're dumb as shit. anyway souma the word is grooming

To be honest, when they did G8 in germany instead of G9, a lot of people finished school and went on to college when they were still 17. I remember the uproar among the lecturers that they had to invite the parents for certain stuff, lol. Gladly, it got changed back to G9 later.
But still, college has a wide range of ages. There are 18 year old people and also some that are way in their 30s. Sure you can look at it like Souma and say that they are basically kids and still have a lot to learn but who doesn't? Learning doesn't end, ever.

Yeah. One of them seems to be a freak with petabytes of storage. (I mean, Hanasaku Iroha is bloody 54gb!)
But it seems they've gotten better. I think. The more recent things appear to be more reasonable.

Yea but man that Iroha is sweeeeeeet. I think someone else is doing the encoding now but I'm not sure.
