+ Show Spoiler + finally got back to what its good for. GAUNA FIGHTING. I think the choreography was pretty decent so this makes up a bit for the shit it was pulling earlier. Is it also an asspull that lancer didn't die right away after stabbing himself even though he has battle continuation, an ability that lets you fight even with mortal wounds? These are all abilities the servants have, the archer class has independent action. That's literally one of the things that makes him an Archer. Does the anime even explain those abilities? It's the first time I hear about Lancer's battle continuation ability. And yeah, I would call it an asspull as long as it's only mentioned after the situation and nothing lead up to it. As for archer's ability: If it was mentioned 5 episodes ago it's not an asspull but merely plot convinience. I put the "/'s" because I wasn't sure but I was sure it was either of those three. Seems like I was wrong with my last post though. Still, I don't think the show does a good job at all to show what servants or magicians are able to do and why they can do it. + Show Spoiler + You might want to read up on how the hero lancer is based upon died before calling him having battle continuation an asspull  In general battle continuation represents his life very well.Their abilities are either based on their class (like independent action) or their legend, and we've been informed of who Lancer is for quite some time already. | ||

@IceHism: Funnily enough it is necessary for me to enjoy the show. Also, even though it's an adaption it shouldn't presume everyone to know the source. I'm basing my judgement on how the show handles the subject on it's own. If it couldn't do that then it fails to be a proper adaption, that's all. I also doubt that they expect everyone to have played the game beforehand, any sources? | ||

It's the same with + Show Spoiler + why lancer got pissed at archer for him calling rin a dog, there's a very specific reason tied to his legend, his comment of dying due to unreasonable orders/requests is also tied to his legend. I mean the show also technically hasn't explained who Saber is, yet you as the viewer should be fairly capable of figuring that out yourself. The realta nua version of the fate route was also released for free to let people read the first route before watching UBW, which is the second route. | ||

When he finally pulled Ea out as he saw he was losing, he hesitated before actually using it and lost there The story has been out for 11 years. Realta Nua, a newer version, was even released a bit more recently like maybe 7-8 years ago. They are certainly not releasing this to advertise a game. Its more likely that they expect the audience to either already know the game or allow VN players to explain the rest of the little things. They only need to put in the main events and the cool fights and character interactions to give the core experience of the story.
