Where the hell are the main branch people who supposedly want her alive and well? They have the lions share of the power in that family yet so far only the branch family who want her dead are doing anything. You would think they would take measures to protect her outside of 1 phone call from her grandpa asking her to come home since this issue seems to be very very important to them.

Six episodes into Welcome to the NHK and I'm kinda iffy on it. Any interest I have in seeing the end is weirdly balanced out by every time the MC does something cringeworthy with the hikikomori/paranoid stuff. Is finishing it worth the ride or should I shelve it for the time being?

Hmm, as for the Psycho Pass calculation, what do you mean? If you mean Kamui's, Sybil explains in PP1 that criminally asymptomatic individuals are bound to arise (ones that cannot be judged by Sybil's limited criteria) and that in that case Sybil tries to incorporate them to the system (like it tried with Makishima). If you mean his mindless sheeps', I thought it was clear that whatever he's doing to them fucks their mind up.
I think you know that hue calculation doesn't take into account people's behaviors and current actions. So you can very well be killing people downtown, if you're intrinsically clear Sybil won't change its mind about you.
I can see why you would be annoyed that Sybil doesn't do a better job when it obviously could (like when a guy kills 10 people :D), but the entire point of the series is to show how flawed that system is. Psycho Pass is not a perfect show, but the premises behind the Sybil system are decent, and at least consistent as the episodes go, imo.
And yeah, otherwise, Shimotsuki really is overly annoying.

+ Show Spoiler +My main gripe with the system is the chief. It's made explicitly clear that she is representative of the Sybil system. It is also capable of judgement and of circumventing the hue system, as demonstrated in season 1.
So Sybil's composed of people - they obviously know that killing is bad. What exactly is stopping them from using behavior as criteria? The people used by Kamui are certainly not benefiting mankind or the Sybil system, as the result of their actions is an increase in area stress, so why are they not judged?

If you don't like it now, then the rest might not appeal to you either. It's pretty much more of the same style. The mc advances quite a bit through his life, but a lot of the same jokes stay around.

It's really bugging the shit out of me.
