There is a doujin series that did that, yes. The circle is infamous for just taking anything and then spin out the worst possible conclusions from it. Pretty sure it is translated if you care to find it, I won't bother though.

So I started watching Nagi no Asukara thinking it was another SoL like Iroha but with sea people. Sigh what a mistake. Why must some shitty childhood teen romance stuff always be at the forefront with these kind of shows. Teen romance is fucking idiotic.

the story got become intriguing if you continue watching and ignore that lol but if you aren't enjoying it several episodes in, I would just drop it and move on

I liked it but I wouldn't recommend it as I can see how someone wouldn't be able to stand teen love drama. I think I was like, 'why am I watching this' 7-8 episodes in or so. The chars do mature if it's any consolation but yeah if you're looking for SoL/comedy it's a no go. It's a teen drama / growing up & maturing first.

Ive stated before how going into NagiAsu I had very mediocre expectations. I still very much enjoyed it. Felt dragged a little bit and some of the drama that comes up can be repetitive. But it was alright overall.
Best thing about the show was the OP 2.

new gundam has a weird modern-retro style which is actually stunning, makes me think of ghibli when things are in motion
ahh only seen 2 episodes so far but after watching alot of good and pretty good stuff i'm very hopefully that this'll be great and not just eye candy *crosses fingers*
