If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.ggFor currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net |
Yeah 'cause if you're gonna go with a list of what I presume are yet to be translated or a list of "go figure it out yourself" I'd give you things like Cartagra/Kara no Shoujo and Muramasa and Oretsuba and and and...
:x
Otherwise you're quite limited in options 'cause only the most foolhardy venture to t/l a whole VN.
Planetarian was quite awesome, though, for such a shorty :D
Oh, now that I think about it, though, I highly recommend Ever 17 (translated), and I believe Cross Channel is also highly touted (also translated). I never could get myself into CC though, for some reason.
|
Actually, I'd also like VN recommendations, since I now have some time. I've read Planetarian, Narcissu, Ever 17, and Umineko 1-5
Edit - I definitely need translated lol :p
|
Oretsuba apparently has a fan translation project going, and since Muramasa is Nitro we might see one eventually :p
Of ones I know that has translation for sure, Saya no Uta and Chaos;head. If you don't might it also being a game and 18+, Eien no Aselia. Hm what else...there was something I threw at people...oh yeah Utawarerumono also has translation and imo game > anime there. Then the two Sharin no Kuni games aren't bad, though Southlight might disapprove
Umineko 6 still stalling?
|
I think Saya no Uta was vastly overrated, but maybe that's just me. I despised Chaos;Head. Sharin no Kuni was okay, I think it's also overrated but meh.
o/
Shooting 'em down, one at a time, yep, that's me!
|
Just different levels of par~
So few things that I know be translated for a fact though...oh actually Inganock was translated a while back, now that I think about it. So anything from that series from Liar-soft...well the latest one was somewhat weak ><
|
Let's see, based on this list http://translationlibrary.blicky.net/ff/ff_visualnovels_01.htm
Um, wow, that's a really crappy list, poor fellows.
Inganock, Sharin no Kuni, Saya no Uta, Higurashi, Utawarerumono, and Tears to Tiara.
There're a lot of good ones in the "In Progress" list but I dunno peoples' tolerance for those.

I played Tears to Tiara and it's actually pretty decent. Ok, the sex scenes suck(partly because the character drawings are plain bad sometimes), but you can skip those, so it's no problem.
I especially liked the music and the timing of it. + Show Spoiler +

Decent story, decent gameplay, it's a decent VN, I think the anime portrayed it fine though so I'd be torn if asked whether to recommend the VN or the anime. I guess it needs to be stated that both Utawarerumono and T2T are both games, as opposed to VNs, and it's why I'd recommend Utawarerumono - the anime also stayed true to it, but the game itself was pretty challenging. But if you don't like SRPGs like Fire Emblem and/or you're just looking for a VN there's no need to play through it over watching the anime.
|
FSN is a great VN if you ignore the H-scenes.
Also, Clannad if you enjoy that kind of story like I do.
|
I thought the Utawarerumono anime was slightly underwhelming, though the OVAs add a lot of the little stuff that I wanted to see. The Tears to Tiara anime was quite good though, since we got to skip the whole middle of game where they were just doing nothing
Tears to Tiara on the PS3 was pretty as hell though, to the point where I was considering to get that fandisk/expansion/whatever for it. Also funny how one of the faerie maids underwent complete transformation from PC to PS3/anime~ Now if only Leaf will push for a Kizuato/Shizuku anime.
Oh what the hell let's just push Inganock, maybe if more people read that we'll see people work on the rest of the series. I know people didn't quite like Sharnoth, but as a sucker for the Count of Monte Cristo I can't stop recommending that one So yeah, if people want read something, go for Inganock first.

Okay, let me rephrase that. The premise of Psyren is taken from Gantz. The author of psyren even got the-- let's gather a group of strangers together to perform a mission that has monsters in the way, in a place with no one else. The newcomers do not believe anything the protagonist say, wonder off on our own, get killed, and look awe.
This cannot be a series of coincidences.
Blood on the wall with the bodies blurred and blood under the door does not make it seinen. Blood is everywhere in shounen titles (though not on TV because of censorship). Not to mention Psyren is published on the weekly shounen jump, the epitome of shounen series.
This is not to say that Gantz is the more mature title. In fact, I can see 12 y.o. reading it and go, lololol boobies. Hence, I refrained from slapping the shounen and seinen genre and labeled it R and pg-13 instead.

Aoi stays pretty much the same -_-b. The badassness of her brother is there to counteract her foolishness.

Huh.
Well, maybe I'll try Katawa Shoujo as a VN.

Man, Angel Beats! is so ridiculous now...

Thanks, good to know -_- Gonna drop this then.

Angel Beats seems to be just pulling plot twists out of thin air now. At this rate, for the last episode of the series they might as well + Show Spoiler +just have everyone reincarnate into episode 1 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
|
Yeah I have no idea why they chose that direction in Angel Beats. + Show Spoiler +I guess they may want to wrap up the show in one season?
|
I am probably just going to buy the novel and read all the back stories to see if that makes AB any better lol.

hello there anime thread, im pretty new to this thread and right now i need a good anime to kill time. I prefer some echii/comedy/cute type of thing OR some super psychology thinking such as Ghost in the Shell stuff...(no honor please) Not that much into battle/action anime and hv no fun with mecha and sport.
thanks before hand ^^

Just finished watching Whisper of the Heart and I have to say that it is pretty damn good. I don't really know why I liked it since it seemed a bit average in every way a lot of the time, but whatever.
