If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

Since I'm already talking about this, my favorite animated arc so far is library girl (first season) and teacher girl (second season - this one especially stands out). Kanon's was good, too.
Just wanted to say that the story is linear and that there's even *gasp* character development

Character development? not really.

Pretty sure Keima actually caring about people other than himself in the real world counts as character development.

Unless it turns out in the end he had some ulterior motive to all this, but so far it seems like he's doing it simply because he wants to help them.

He also wants to not die because if he fails, he joins the decapitated club.

Where are you getting that from? To my knowledge that only applies to conquering the girls when they have the spirit things inside of them, which has nothing to do with this case.

The fact that he's still wearing the head decapitating collar.

That's the reason why he started doing it and definitely is still a reason why he does it, but he's been seeing and growing to like the real world more and more.
Like when he said that wrestling was exciting, or now his genuine feelings of wanting to save Kanon and blaming himself for what happened to her, etc. He's clearly not doing what he does just because he's forced to do it

Um. That's not a reason to support your assumption at all lol.

He's wearing the collar because he's still collecting the souls he was contracted to, so he won't be released until he collects them all. I asked why is he specifically helping these girls, when it has nothing to do with collecting souls. Him not helping them would not result in the neckbrace activating, as it was not a part of his contract with Elsie.

In other words, he's doing it because he wants to help them, not because he has to or die. The same guy who basically wanted nothing to do with the real world at the start of the series, is actively choosing to help others. AKA - Character Development.

Was Tenri's stuff introduced? If so, then it sort of shows that there hasn't been any character development. If he starts something, he tries to finish it. Whatever he takes as his responsibility, he'll take responsibility for it and see it through to the end. And now spoiler because I'm not sure how far the anime is

Pretty sure Keima wants to help the goddesses because they could get rid of all the evil spirits. Not really because he likes them or wants to be involved with them.

Pretty much this.

If he continues collecting the runaway spirits, he has to capture something like 10,000 girls because that's how many spirits were released. + Show Spoiler [Goddess Arc] +
The goddesses are a shortcut introduced by the author to speed this up, because once the goddesses are revived, they will capture the 10,000 spirits for him, and end in the most anticlimatic possible way.

Unless this was introduced sometime in-between the second and third season (that we didn't see), he hasn't been doing it because of this, since he hasn't been made aware of it yet.

Not that I'm shocked the author would make such a cop-out. 10,000 is an insane number to catch.

He was made aware of the number pretty damn early, iirc anime covered it as well, lol.

Sure, Keima changes over the course of the series so far, just at around Shinji level. A better case can be made for the plot device personality changes from the likes of Yui.

10,000 was just off the top of my head. I remembered it was a 5 digit number, just wasn't sure how many exactly.

Hasn't mentioned it so far.

His core character may be the same (it's pretty unrealistic for that part to change anyway), but he's actually shown to care for people in the "real" world, which is rather different from the Keima we knew in the beginning.

Hey, this question probably has been asked before, so i apologize for that, but does anyone know any series similar to Welcome to the NHK? I suppose i'm looking for an anime series which is as realistic as possible, without the typical anime cliche stuff.

I've never seen Welcome to the NHK, but I have seen Eden of the East and I've heard that they are similar. I could be wrong though.

Finally finished rewatching Mawaru Penguindrum.

It's been a long time since I've cried. I thought they had all dried up. And I thought knowing the entire story would prevent the waterfall.
Apparently not.

Ah a fellow Penguindrum lover. Good news! The director is making another show called Lesbian Bear Storm that might be out this year ^^.

Not much is known except a small pv released at some festival or something. All that was gathered really is there is girl who hates bears and shoots one that she sees. The bear she shoots turns into to two girls. The two girls that were the bear are lesbians and live with the girl who shot them I think?

Ya you'll just have to wait till it comes out ^^

Also to answer your above post they arent anime but you can read molesterman or Onani Master Kurosawa .

Sup, people are making a crossover comic between Voltron and Robotech. Seems like a fairly silly idea.

I've never seen Welcome to the NHK, but I have seen Eden of the East and I've heard that they are similar. I could be wrong though.

No they're not similar at all. One is good and the other is an awful attempt at a Japanese Jason Bourne.

Ooooooh, you're talking about that NEET crap in East of Eden.

Yeah no they're not similar.

Hey, this question probably has been asked before, so i apologize for that, but does anyone know any series similar to Welcome to the NHK? I suppose i'm looking for an anime series which is as realistic as possible, without the typical anime cliche stuff.

Tatami Galaxy.

Edit: The two aren't that similar but I reckon if you like one that you'll probably like the other. It's just kind of hard to find a suitable rec for anyone who liked Welcome to the NHK because it's just kind of....different I guess. If you go here you'll see that the recs just aren't very good.
