Most of the shows don't have to be original anymore either, there are a lot of set trends that get decent viewers, where it used to be mecha shows and toy shows got a set number of viewers in certain blocks and everything else had to be extremely original or based on a popular manga. Even then, the most popular type of show to use an original story or setting was mecha because it was easy to merchandise off of, which is where companies made their money. Viewer expectations are higher also, not only in animation quality but story quality as well. Simple good and evil stories or romances don't really get anywhere anymore, currently we're in the fantasy/novelization/dialogue trend for instance and will be for another year or two. Fickleness of the rapid growth of the industry.

On January 01 2013 06:39 Denzil wrote: just finished chuuni good series was nice to hear lelouch again I think I mentioned this on IRC sometime, but not here. Related to Jun Fukuyama, Lelouch's voice actor. This was a little over a week ago, when I came down with a fever. At that time, I was still watching Soaring Cake Girl, and in it, there is a Space Colony AI named Leopard, who is voiced by Fukuyama. Leopard is hilarious, and he uses the exact same voice as he does for Lelouch for the role. Anyway, I came down with a fever, so I had some long, seemingly endless fever dream of Lelouch and the Black Knights going to war with Leopard because they had the same voice actor, and it ended with Leopard Colony Dropping himself onto the Earth with Lelouch in him, or something. And since it was a fever dream, I'd like sleep for 15 minutes, wake up, go back to sleep and see it again, repeat for like 8 hours.

I did... had raw so it's probably a few days ahead of you http://mal.oko.im/ragzgt WTF I hate Drama and love Ecchi/Harem apparently that's not the case Guess it makes sense in a round about way since I watch more shows of interested genre, making the score more even, and those genre I don't like, only watch the best = higher score Similarly, those before my time I only watched best / classic ones, resulting in much higher score. And the truly bad ones I couldn't finish / score, resulting in higher average.
