I will check out Gaiking. I think i tried 3-4 episodes of fairy tale some years back and it didnt catch on. Anybody have a good place to stream? Or is it forbidden to ask it on TL? Fairy Tail takes a bit to catch on. I remember just watching it more as a routine rather than enjoyability, then I got around episode 20 then realized this show had amazing potential. Then it only gets better from there with every occuring arc. As far as streaming goes, I dont know any sites other than crunchyroll. Kipsate provided me with an excellent streaming site, so being the lazy bum I started with fairy tail. Overall I have to say the show is quite good. I think the sobby "power of friends" card is played a little too often and the jokes dont work out that often. But other than that its great. I like the characters and so far theyve certainly managed to keep the plot very interesting. I think using magic as a reference point was a great idea, cuz it gives the authors so many possibilities. Ive been through 45 episodes now and its still great. Thanks you two Which site would this be? The current streaming sites I use don't have a few shows I am looking for.
Its only for fairy tail; www.fairytail.tv.

Both same genre, but One Piece is longer running, and overall a superior product. Fairy Tail also borrows alot from One Piece, IMO. If you are looking for streaming, you can watch most of One Piece on Funimation's website for it, althought they aren't all up there, so you might have to look elsewhere. Funimation started streaming One Piece somewhere in the 500s, and slowly started adding past episodes, and have gotten up to like the 250s now. Gaiking can be legally streamed for free at Crunchyroll: http://www.crunchyroll.com/gaiking-legend-of-daiku-maryu
I alwread follow the OP religiously, but im def gonna check out Gaiking on crunchyroll.

The anime and the source aren't exactly great but you seem to be remembering a lot of things wrongly lol.
About the decision to duel, anime fucked up pretty hard and didn't cover that theme really when it had the chance.

Well, i watched the whole series in a day so maybe you could explain what you mean by remembering wrongly?

I don't watch much anime, the ones I've seen and completed are Dragonball, Pokemon, One Piece (still ongoing though), Yu-gi-oh and Deathnote.. You know, the ones a typical kid that grew up in California watch. BUT I've started Ghost in the Shell, and I'm on the 12th episode of S.A.C. and wow it's amazing, I LOVE cyberpunk. William Gibson is my favorite author of all time and this series makes me love cyberpunk even more. Pretty excited to watch the rest and I'm looking into more series like this one at the moment but I've read there isn't any quite like it. Anyway, thanks for reading my intro to the anime world ^_^
EDIT: Forgot to mention I have Ergo Proxy lined up next ^_^

I think they felt rushed to finish the SAO arc, honestly I'm not sure why they spent so much time on the silly yui / fisherman side stories.
+ Show Spoiler [light novel spoilers] + In the light novel, when Kayaba challenges Kirito after defeating 75th floor, Asuna says “No, Kirito-kun...! He's trying to get rid of you first... Right now... Right now you have to back down...!”
Also, the fight between Kayaba and Kirito is not really portrayed well in the anime. There wasn't enough emphasis on the fact that Kirito was holding his own without using any in-game skills, but in desperation decided to try one and Kayaba instantly pwns him. Also Asuna jumping in front of Kirito at the end makes no sense in the anime, but you can read her thoughts leading up to her breaking out of paralysis in the light novel.

SAO doesn't have many vocal fans here, because most of the active posters in this thread hate it. Also, SAO isn't over, unfortunately. Its gonna be 25 episodes.

I liked the anime, and then I went through the first few novels around the time the anime hit eps 11. Never watched any more since but sounds like I didn't miss anything. But yeah the show was crazy inconsistent in quality I think.

I found SAO to be decent (again, I found Accel World to be decent too) I am disappointed by how things ended up. IMO, the story should have been : Guy fighting his way to lvl 100, but losing people/friends, losing hope etc

But instead of Sword Art Online actually telling the story of Sword Art Online, the other decided he just wanted to do a tiny bit of the start, and then the final 2 floors. Fuck everything else, not important, just refer to everything in the past tense. Its much more important to make many new arcs based on games with virtually none of the potential tension SAO had due to its Death-Game status, and build harems. Harem building is actually the most important aspect of telling any story, btw.

Well, I believe many pointed it out, or I've read it somewhere, but building harems = pleasing the a base of viewers = make internet money!!!!!!!!
Its really unfortunate that the costs of productions are so high that producers are scared to go with unconventional ideas
Or, it could be that the creator of SAO is just a bad author...
|
Well he was allegedly 15 when he wrote it.
|
This somehow reminds me of Christopher Paolini and the Inheritance Trilogy Cycle rofl.
But SAO is....well not everybody's cup of tea but of course a lot of people like it (and some very much so!), and at least the art/animation looks niceish.

For those of you on IRC who were watching me kill most of #tladt in X-Com earlier today, I took a screen shot of the memorial thing, so you can see when you died, and how well you did before death: + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/KI0a0.jpg) After further discussion, it was decided that Ecael "half" killed Kaal too, since it was the nomnom that burst out of Ecael's Zombie that killed Kaal.

Haven't watched the latest SAO episodes. Should I drop it or keep watching? Could it become "so bad it's good"?
|
i watched all SAO episodes in like 2 days, and became really interested in it, i didn't watch or know what the novels contain so i guess i don't know how much more awesomeness can get into it... + Show Spoiler +Too bad the quality dropped alot after the first 5 or so episodes, and the plot was getting a bit retarded... Also we need much MORE explanations of shit that is happening, maybe we will get there in the next episodes. And is it just me thinking that "the skills" of this "MMORPG" were really shitty? i mean im playing vindictus since 1 week ago and the skills there trash SAO pathetic excuse of skills(and you can cook in vindictus also...) Maybe i expected a bit too much of this "MMORPG" even tho it was actually an anime not a game itself...
