i used to watch it like 3-4 years ago
then i came back and started reading it like 5 days ago i'm at like chapter 100
but i liked the anime a lot because of the music and stuff and i remember anime was so good
but 371 episodes of naruto is a lot i'll probably never get through naruto in my life =(
Lol, I am waiting for kona to rage any second now...
But on a more serious note, it seems like many people here do not care for Naruto because it is too "mainstream" perhaps? I do not know but one thing for certain is that it had too many shonen cliches and it was very cheesy at times. But the same thing can be said for a lot of the anime around here that gets a lot of hype.
Watch Kaiba unless you like the Railgun/Index-like story line where you have a main story line that's interrupted in the middle by slice of life crap. (I personally skipped over most of Railgun and just picked out the episodes that actually pertained to the storyline ).
I despise Naruto because it has a contrived, silly, weak, and cheesy storyline. Even worse, the characters fall into the same definition as the one provided above. Also, the animation is probably the worst... Ok, not the worst, but it's pretty bad. Overall, it falls under the category of "Animes that tell you that you can do anything if you put enough effort into it and/or if you have the help of your friends."
Edit: Spoilered because I certainly don't want to break the rule of no N_____.
Anyway, I'm just starting Casshern Sins, and it's going fairly slowly, but it's really cool :O
Casshern Sins is overrated, the anime is well-conceived, but poorly paced/presented. The episodes simply don't string together well enough to make it a good series.
Anyone following FMA manga right now? shits so good right now omg. . . too bad its a monthly release. not even following any other anime/manga right now, FMA is epic enough :p
holy shit how many more chapters are there gonna be? anime is at 48 already so if they stick to 52 eps then the manga should finish soon... roy's penalty for the door was EPIC
In short: The manga used to be okay, then it got emo. The anime used to be okay, then it got filler. As in practically 100 episodes worth.
Judging from the tone of the Naruto thread, I think most people who still read the manga do so just because they've invested too much time into the series to stop before seeing the end. Besides, it only takes about 3 minutes a week to read. The anime, however, has been long forsaken.
This doesn't really count as anime, but I suppose I must confess this somewhere. I downloaded and watched a decent portion of Hatsune Miku's first concert. I didn't watch all of it... yet.

While we are on the path of semi-offtopic and derailed things, allow me to express my joy at seeing Break Blade scanlation up to a good point and my anger at the latest Hayate. Break Blade is about to just see a few chapters of fun and action. Hayate...freaking hell, + Show Spoiler [Hayate no Gotoku] +
stop bothering with Nagi, look at the freaking polls, while I don't usually like the idea of having the fanbase affect story too much, I'll make an exception for this. Less Nagi and more Hina/Maria/Athena please -.-
I didn't really want to bother watching the Gurren Lagann movies, but that hacking scene was hilarious. Maybe I'll watch it after all.
As the Baka Test novels finally got Hideyoshi to try out a skirt voluntarily, and not even for a play. I guess the series is just going to end up having everyone do so. Awakening to a new...um, self. I am really just left somewhat dumbfounded.

Btw anyone watch Katanagatari yet? Supposebly theres going to be a monthly release of 12 episodes which tend to be about 45 mins in length. Watched the first 3 and enjoyed it alot. The artwork is.. different. Reminds me a bit of Noein's artwork but meh, i still like it :D. I wanna watch more but monthly releases feel tooooooo long

Watching it because I quite enjoyed the original works. I think the art is the first time that Take (the illustrator) has been a major figure in the character design for animes. Now waiting for April and June's episodes of pure awesomeness.
Ok this might be off topic...and I know it is a somewhat old anime by now...but I just finished watching Shuffle and need to vent. What a roller coaster ride that turned out to be ><. Although...
I am pissed that Rin went with Asa instead of Kaede... I keep listening to this song and making up my own ending where Rin isn't a complete dick and stays in the house and works things out with Kaede. Instead he leaves her to watch after Primula solo and just runs off with his new flavor of the week. Anyways, enjoy the song ^_^
Anyways...overall I enjoyed it. Good way to pass the time when not playing SC2 =D

They're not supposed to 'string' together. It's mainly episodic, and it executes what it tries to accomplish really well. I don't understand how you could say the pacing is poor. Just because it's slow and atmospheric instead of driven by plot doesn't mean the pacing is poor. UGH UGH.
