But yea it's mostly scenery porn / wallpaper source. Not my favorite Shinkai film.

I second that. Its absolutely amazing. The only anime movie to ever rival miyazaki in my book.
I will check out Gaiking. I think i tried 3-4 episodes of fairy tale some years back and it didnt catch on. Anybody have a good place to stream? Or is it forbidden to ask it on TL?

So i thought i would watch Revolutionary Girl Utena since I thought Penguindrum was awesome....Holy fucking shit this is definitely the same director lol. Plot twist, surreal shit, symbolism/allegory, repetition....incest. Geez im on 26 and all I have to say is Cars.....Cars fucking everywhere I dont fucking understand lol

Fairy Tail takes a bit to catch on. I remember just watching it more as a routine rather than enjoyability, then I got around episode 20 then realized this show had amazing potential. Then it only gets better from there with every occuring arc.
As far as streaming goes, I dont know any sites other than crunchyroll.

It's a great anime film but the story was way too depressing for my taste. You could argue that it's sort of a tragedy (and even though those are depressing, they're still very valuable in storytelling and can describe things about the human condition etc) but I didn't think there was too much of a lesson to be learned per se. Feels like it was more of a story told to be bittersweet and evoke melancholic feelings and I didn't like that very much :S
And yeah, it was more the fantastic art and music that sort of carried it I felt.
That bit Milkis wrote is nice I guess. But I think that while the idea that it focused well on this specific motif of distance, I didn't particularly find overarching themes great and the plot wasn't my cup of tea either.

Hmph scenery porn is nothing, you plebians just dont get it.

also i didnt like 5cm for the drama, i liked it cause of the portrayal of distance which was pretty amazing... so i dont know what to think of the recs "because i liked 5cm". 5cm was pretty symbolic/nice about a lot of the things (the main character's smile at the end? lots to talk about there imo) which i dont think most anime can even come to pull off

+ Show Spoiler [Sukinayo 01] +Dawwwww, I loved this first ep. It may reek of mediocrity but this type of genre is definitely right up my alley. And the artwork is just something great, I love that type of style. Oblig: ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/oq29h.jpg)

Those are the ones i remember off the top of my head. I dont really like artsy or so called advanced animes.
Any recommendations? (Just to clarify: I enjoy the "Boy sets out to conquer world, picks up a great friends along the way and have funny adventures", not some (supposedly) intelligent overarching thing. For instance I hated Death Note. Its a personal preference, but I really dont like those kind of shows) Fairy Tail sounds perfect for you. Its easily my most favorite anime. Power of friendship OP Fairy Tail is okay, but if you want to go the "100+ episode anime" route, One Piece is far better. Try out Gaiking: Legend of Daiku Maryu. If you enjoyed TTGL and are a fan of shounen shows, it should be right up your alley. Its like 40 episodes too, so its not mammoth like One Piece or Fairy Tail.
This man is correct.
One Piece is so good omg. Some people may get put off by the fact it's like 500+ eps... and it may take some people 100-200+ eps for them to get into it - but once you do, it can easily be classified one of the best animes. In my opinion anyway!

Funny I really really really should watch it now. I've had it sitting in my hard-drive for at least a year and yet to watch it despite all the great things I've heard.

It's one of those series that pulls off the standard shoujo very well, I like it and I think Uta also likes it a lot.

I finished building my Saber Lily plamo. People wanted pictures when I finished, so here they are:
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/tbtaD.jpg) + Show Spoiler [More] +
Sorry that I didn't give it any more poses, I've vowed to never try and change her pose again. It looks nice for what it is, and Saber's sword and sheath are nice, already painted (which is rare for a weapon as detailed as Caliburn is). She has tons of different hands. She has a total of "6" different faces (basically just eyes looking 3 different directions, and smile and not-smile face). They also gave her an ass, and her garter stockings, which I'm not sure why they provided that detail, since you can't see her legs with this dress, and the model wasn't meant to be dressless.
The cons... TL;DR version, if you want to get this plamo, you gotta be a Gunpla nut like I am to pull it off. It was difficult to build, to say the least. + Show Spoiler +The kit has all the flaws you would expect from a Kotobukiya plamo. Parts like to fall off. Especially her skirt. Her skirt falls apart more easily than the fuckin Alteisen's skirt, and that thing pissed me off. Eventually I just said "fuck it" and super glued the skirt in place.
The flesh parts, like her upper arm, face, or upper legs, are all made of good plastic, I was surprised. However, the inner frame, especially her hip joints and shoulder joints, are made with really shitty brittle plastic. The good plastic is so good, that it literally will put a fucking death grip onto the joint in the shoulder, when attached. This death grip is so tight, that if you attempt to turn her shoulder, it will literally twist the plastic ball joint clean off. This is BAD, very fucking bad, lol. When I did this, I basically had to super glue her left shoulder into place. Luckily I learned my lesson, and sanded the shit out of the inside of the other shoulder, to prevent the same tragedy from occurring. Also, this kit required a bit of paint. The black outlines on part of her skirt needed to be colored in. And I had to battle with black paint markers in order to score a victory here.
Oh yeah, I also almost stabbed myself in the neck with a hobby knife while building this.
I'm still reorganizing my other stuff, and I have two more models to build (HGUC Hambrabi and Takeru Shiranui), so I haven't been able to take a group shot of the other stuff. I bought a Jehuty Revoltech at AWA last week, so I still need to take a picture of that too.
