Im not gonna go as far to say that Tari Tari is amazing. But I think its pretty decent. At the very least, it gives me my weekly moe-dose.
Weekly dosage intake: Tari Tari - Moe Dakara Boku/Kono Naka - Fap Natsuyuki/Kokoro - Romance RinneLagrange/Horizon - Action Binbougami/Joshiraku/Moyashimon - Laughs
Edit: Not sure where to categorize Koi Sen, its not necessarily "fap" category, I have nothing but pure thoughts for the Shinonome sisters. LOL. For me I don't classify Tari Tari is moe... I dunno. Yuri Yuri - Moe Hagure Yuusha/Kono Naka - Fap Kokoro/Oda Nobuna - Romance SAO/Horizon/Rinne - Action Tari Tari/YuriYuri/Campione! - Laughs Koi Sen... is ok. I don't really like it so much, but I still watch it I guess.
Shows still following this season:
Hagure Yuusha/Kono Naka/Oda Nobuna - Fap Natsuyuki/SAO/Kokoro/Campione - Romance Binbougami - Comedy Tari Tari - Drama? Kinda hard to classify its your standard slice of life with bits and pieces of everything.
Some of my classifications can be questionable, but at the end its what you watch it for not what it was made for.

They introduce some new characters, but first off, its Asuna (who had barely gotten any development outside of volume 1, thus I more or less don't care about her adventures), and 2nd, why should I just care about these new characters? Maybe if it was some character I had already built an attachment to over the course of the story I'd feel sad, but introducing a character and then killing them is like expecting me to be sad when Tomino kills another character in Victory Gundam.

Man, you really need get some professional help regarding your addiction to character development lol.

I mean, vol 7 was fit in earlier I might give a damn, but by that point of the series Asuna was in full dutchwife mode and you can tell what will happen in the book within the first 30~50 pages. All the vol does really is set up for Alicization in the form of a vol long side story.
If you want to throw that kind of drama at me you'd need to do better than Hantsuki to get me to react

I think this is also synonymous with turning your brain "off" while watching to enjoy something (over-looking character development).

Well, you can only turn the brain so off before you just fall asleep. Also drama is weaker far as I am concerned than other things that specialize in drama.
In the end though vol 7 is just setup for Alicization so whatever.

Character development is cool for people who need them, but they also mean they start out pretty shitty. The best chars kicks so much arse they don't need no stinking character development (Iskander, Hisoka, Kusanagi Motoko etc).

Kusanagi has character development throughout the series oO Quite a bit so, to be honest.

What was she doing, she was going all vigilante and then decided to team up because Section 9 is balls without her.

In just the first film, + Show Spoiler +She goes from a "ghost" that considers the brain just a brain, to having philosophical discussions with Bateau about what makes a person, to accepting the puppet-master's "information" and considering the result "a daughter," essentially accepting that she's become a different person just by having different information.
Assuming that the TV series are prequels of sorts, in the Laughing Man + Show Spoiler +she becomes more understanding of the "resistance" of sorts, in a way represented by the Laughing Man, which is a big reason why she's able to track him down in the first place, and ultimately lets him go.
In both cases you can see how she's forced to look at the other side of the "battleground" and alters her views, to the point where in Innocence + Show Spoiler +she's like a completely different person from the start of the TV series, assuming chronology/canon goes in that timeline

I was under the impression that the first 2 movies and the series were just alternate stories, and well the manga to. Its almost impossible to reconcile all that goes on. But I suppose you did say assuming.
|
You Get to Burning / Minami Kuribayashi + Eri Kitamura
Guess I need get ASL 2012 just for that
|
I didn't think they were alternate because IIRC in the series that one dude is a newbie to the team and by Innocence he's Bateau's "partner" of sorts (a replacement-ish to Kusanagi) so I've generally assumed that chronology, but there's no official statement IIRC and a lot of people consider them alternate, so... yeah.

She is seeing stuff in a different view, and gaining perspective, sure, but I don't know how is that character development. She action / expectation / interaction / personality has not changed at all. Of course there is minor changes, but I don't see how she is different in any meaningful way from start to finish, which is what character development all about.
