Rosario Vampire second season (manga) is pretty serious, with whole evil organization looking for world domination and stuff. And lots of blood.

These are mostly good vs bad anime, but you dont need nudity for those really. Not sure if you want the ecchi or not.

I just finished the 2006 version of Kanon. Gosh there are a lot of similarities between Kanon and the Clannad series. Although I guess its because they're both from Key. I wish I had watched Kanon first before Clannad though, my bar of fexpectation was a bit too high for Kanon, even though it was good. Key sure does like to make use of supernatural events or "magic" a lot though. I don't know how I feel about that, but I guess since they both had happy endings that I wanted to see its alright.
Now what anime to watch next...? Any opinions?

I would agree on Rosario Vampire, I stopped after 5 episodes, because it felt like I had just watched the same episode 5 times.

I thought that one was pretty fun and brainless, like DxD and High School of the dead

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou was all fun and games until you get to the end. Still recommended if you want a basic good vs bad with ecchi stuff in the middle, series.
My own petty recommendation is Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls.

Hyakka Ryouran is decent on its own, but the original ending just never feel right since I read the novel already.

Hmmm I just saw it, and it was pretty good. Kinda weird how they made the environments so beautiful but the characters themselves really bland. A very enjoyable movie overall, though for best movie I think disappearance of suzu haru is better.
Edit: they cant really be compared though since 1 has 2 seasons of anime to support it and the other is standalone. For a standalone movie this was exceptional.
edit2: I just read kokoro connect is gonna be 17 eps.. dafuq? Pretty weird number

Well, it doesn't have to ecchi! when I said that I enjoyed DXD, its because of the humor (its the same that comes over and over again from a naive cast) but I also enjoyed the story (no matter how thin it was)
I'll try to check out these other suggestions! Hopefully, they won't disappoint :D
ps : Its not that Rosario Vampire is utterly bad. Some funny moments here and there. But its just repeating itself (the three first episodes are pretty much similar). If things would get more serious/darker, I think that the universe has some potential...
I think my favourite animes are still Full Metal Alchemist + Death Note because even though funny (for FMA) at times, they were really serious.

The anime doesn't get much more serious or darker. It pretty much stays the same even to the end of the second season, and the MC is still a wimp at the end -.- The second season of the manga is REALLY good though. It moves away from the light hearted school life 24/7 and gets pretty serious.

Oh, and what is it with the anime I watch and like and pocket watches? Phantom had one, Pandora Hearts* had one, now Noir... hah. Well, they are pretty cool devices so I don't exactly mind.

Gunslinger Girl manga is very good, but it gets so sad I could barely continue.
