Ya the Haruhi movie was done extremely well, even if I didnt watch any of the series prior. I had to do a lot of wiki'ing in the middle of the movie to understand who was what and what was who, haha.

Well their club is basically a bullshit do nothing club that got put together because of what you heard about in ep1, so instead of actual activities, they put together a newspaper on a monthly basis. Kinda like a report really, with no real limitation in topic. As you saw in ep1, people mostly just did whatever the fuck they wanted, Taichi w/ pro wrestling, Aoki random romance corners, Yui about cute things, Iorin does whatever the hell that comes up in her mind, and Inaban some kind of computer related thing.
It goes to the teacher and not heartseed, but I guess no one even remembers his name lawlz.
They also have some pretty lulzy special editions to the paper but I don't think they'll ever see anime given how they are covered in ss and audio drama.

ef is one of my favorite romances. The love triangle was cliched but it was executed far better than most. Given the length and number of significant characters, it does a great job with set up, build up, and conclusion of the drama without really wasting any time. I also really enjoyed the art and music. Make sure to watch the sequel too. Between these two seasons, it hits on a number of themes not limited to romance which really helps in my personal rating.

why the fuck would you watch disappearance if you didnt watch the series lol
even if you "understood" what happened per say, i cant imagine anyone would give a shit about anything that happens in the movie without watching the series.
on a side note, yamada and the seven witches is fucking awesome. even if the trans are kinda shitty, it's gotten alot better recently
