Although I do agree after Vol.5 it gets pretty... lame by the amount of game hopping.
However, from Vol 1 - 4, plus the side stories - it gets really good. People complaining about the side stories in the anime, if they didn't make any - you would see MASSIVE gaps in the story line/flash backs, character growth/dev etc etc.
It's really necessary for them to do the side stories first before they get onto the main story line. Did you just call + Show Spoiler [SAO LNs] + good? Really? Like, vol 1 was basically the best SAO vol for a while, that seems to get along fine. They should've either waited for Progressive to get written or be smarted and blow a 15+ episodes + Show Spoiler [SAO LNs] + and filled the rest with original content. By far a better draw for audience and development imo. Also, other than Aria and the story to get aired this week, these side stories are really weak development wise. I do agree that Vol 5+ are pretty bad - but Vol 1 - 4 were easily good reading fodder. I don't know how you rate your LN's, but I don't take them all that serious. I read it on the train as a time passer. So I was happy. The thing is with the anime is that the people who haven't read the LN's won't understand the huge personality gaps between the characters - not to mention if they actually held to the LN there would only be like... 5-6 eps of the main story. But I do agree original content and slower paced episodes wouldn't been far better. 3+ are pretty bad, 5/6 are much better than 3/4 (not that 5/6 are good either) I didn't like 5+6 more than 3+4. Then again I just wanted a small extension of the of Vol. 1 so meh. I didn't really feel satisfied with the ending of Vol. 1 so ya. But I do agree original content and slower paced episodes wouldn't been far better. 3 and 4 were the low points for me, 5~6 was eh, still bad but less time spent complaining to thin air than reading. 7 would've been passable if the character in question wasn't a plot device and we get meaningful development from earlier on (we didn't). 8 was SS, at least the one that took the most pages was pretty decent. 9 starts Alicization so back to vol1 quality. Hard to take LNs seriously, but inability to take content seriously doesn't make shit better. Can't even really past time w/ SAO from point to point without numbing myself with other reading first. That's better than Accel World though. As for pacing, well, idk why they aren't trying to milk the cash cow more. Take things slowly, get author collaboration, squeeze out 3 seasons. Don't even have to get actual new and original material, just use his doujins and touch them up a bit and throw in fan service as necessary. The industry already looks like they are lacking in contents so I really don't know why they don't look for more stable and long running series like SAO to animate. They certainly didn't mind going through endless seasons of ZnT and Shana, idk what's stopping them here. Yeah taking LN's seriously is not the point of LN's. Then again I don't know why I read them LOL. I just find random LN's at Akiba time to time to just pass the endless hours of train rides I have for uni sigh. I agree with you on the anime part. 3 seasons is so easy with SAO, take it slow, add in original content here and there, bit of legit char dev. There's already fan service added in in the past couple eps due to the large reception it has this season in Japan (see newest ep for dat ass). SAO is still a pretty big hit in Japan anyway, from the otaku's I talk to LOL. + Show Spoiler [SAO] +I wish it'd just end there, but if we really have to get all the random shit then I am fine with seeing Alicization.
How I look at Aincrad arc is that either keep it like vol1, short and sweet. Or take your time like Alicization and do like 5+ vols (given amount of themes that can be covered w/ SAO era, more probably) And yeah idk, they have a cash cow and they refuse to milk it. It'd be good for everyone involved even. Like, I can see worries if it is like Horizon. Super long series that will take 9 cours at least at current pace with source not even finished. But SAO? Really? If Shana can keep people watching to season 3. If ZnT can do the ummm 4 seasons that it has. SAO is like a way to print cash for the industry. I can understand doing poorly because bad, I can't understand throwing easy money away. + Show Spoiler [SAO] +Ya but it's waaaay too late now. They've already done a ton of side stories and they announced the next 3 eps so the main plot starts at like ep 8 I think with a double header and it starts off with the dual blade reveal. I think I read somewhere it may be 24/25 eps long or 12 eps not too sure lol. However going by the reception there will be a S2. Maybe its just the company LOL. I think they are slowly realizing how good the anime is being received and may try and change it. But I personally think its a bit too late to go the proper good way to milk it. They never expected it to be such well regarded show this season compared to a couple others. + Show Spoiler [SAO] +I heard that this season should be two cours so looks like vol 1~4 w/ random vol8 ss to me. They'll probably do GGO as S2, no way they can do Alicization though, shit is huge and not even finished publishing wise.
It might just be the studio being retarded but like, you pick up something from Dengeki, shit has been selling, one of the biggest web novelists up to that point. Are you really worried about not being able to sell that if you actually put in some effort? Shaft didn't worry about Bake not selling now did they, lol.
I mean you see other series do the same thing. T-M w/ Nasuverse in general now and OreImo w/ media switching. Throw in the money for a big title, get big results. It isn't often that you get titles that hit as large a population with this niche otaku market, not making the most out of it is just...meh.

Noob moment. I never knew what they meant by "also please stop trolling people with school days" until now.

Wait, was the Code Geass: Akito the Exiled OVA/episode 1 released?

In theaters, I believe. So, have fun waiting a few months.

I will continue to wish good studios gave seikaisha books more love, but I guess it's hard animating actual books.

The problem wasnt with school days. The problem was just the trolling. Well mostly the trolling.

Yeah lol, I just hope they either:
1. Figure out their shit quickly or 2. Just do the main series and end it quickly
|
im liking it...
whats wrong with a series going "lots of random character building/character using fun shit , then eventually a main and ending plot" . as long as it isnt done abruptly (gunslinger girls) - so i disagree with the last thing you said (end it quickly)

Ive read most of SAO vol 1 now
The anime isn't that bad, yeah it's not a major plot or anything, but it's very enjoyable
The whole setting of the thing is really easy to get into and get sucked in. And also in a way, the anime is doing things in a relatively chronological order so it's not too bad either, whereas the LN seems a bit jumpy
Still i'm enjoying the LN atm, though maybe the future vols will be a disappointment who knows T_T
But yeah i'm heavily enjoying most of the anime and the LN atm. One thing that is nice is that since i've seen a few eps of the anime, it makes it really easy to visualise stuff in the LN whereas you can't do that without pictures to start with

Never got all the school days hate.
It is easily the most realistic portrayal of what a harem would be and end like in real life.

Guess it depends what you would call legit harem. He "Openly" cheats with every girlfriend hes ever had. And the hilarous part is that his gf still tend to put up with him for 2 or so more months after finding out. I would described him as a sexaholic. He is even studying in college to become a sex therapist or some shit.
So ya Im pretty sure 95% of girls would move on rather than out right murder you.

is there an unlockable route in deardrops?
i liked the two main routes, the side routes were basically just quick setups for the H... but i do like how each route resembles the character of the heroine, be it rational, shy, normal or animal xD or "instinct driven" for a lack of better words.

Baldr Sky Dive Reminiscence mode + Makoto's route + Show Spoiler + Reminiscence mode: Nothing much interesting, seriously they should have a ctrl button for those lines that were already mentioned in the main routes. The way Kou and Sora became a couple was in a way I least expected(confessing while they are unsure of their feelings in howling effect). And also sad to see Chinatsu's efforts get screwed over just because of the drunken kiss.
Makoto's route: I was expecting this route to be Kou in Dominion faction. Lucky that did not happen or I will go wtf at Kou's action which will most likely be similiar to Chinatsu's route. Makoto's word flood and how they are displayed on the screen does get annoying in the long run.
