I haven't seen anything by him before/heard nothing. I don't watch that much.

You see, Sheep usually doesn't like people, and Penguindrum was great because he was confounded to find that everyone in the show met his barometer of acceptable human beings.
Also, there are animals that cuter than sheep in that anime.

Mawaru Penguindrum was just downright weird and probably super avant-garde or something because I really didn't get it. Like, I understood what the characters were doing. But I didn't "get" it.
But penguins. Cute. Kyyyyyeeeeee~

Fair enough. I just like the character designs and art direction in Ikuhara's stuff, really.

Gundam Age and General Gundam rant + Show Spoiler + I dont have that much experience in the gundam universe, having only watched seed, destiny, 00, unicorn and age now. But seriously, I don't think any of the writers knows how to resolve a plot properly. There is a kind of fascination with eugenics within every series except for unicorn and this is beginning to annoy me. Seed had coordinators so at least the eugenics discussion fit the theme. The war in seed is pretty coherent for the most part, escalation of conflict by both sides almost leads to mutually assured destruction. I personally never enjoyed the idea of super weapons but that is just a personal complaint. The use of nukes and ZAFT super weapons fit into the context of the plot pretty well. What I mean by this is that as each side's response increase in severity, the use of super-weapons appeared to be the logical conclusion. For the most part, resolution in seed was pretty satisfactory for me.
Well I know Destiny is pretty terrible, but the holy shit the plot was just mind-boggling bad. The Villain's plan was just a mass eugenics plan. I really don't care to discuss the morality aspect of it. I guess the way I want to explain it was that it was so damn cheesy. It is a plan worthy of a super-villain caricature to carry out. It really felt the writers didn't know how the plot would end when they started writing the script for destiny. This is pretty hard for me to explain, but just hear me out. Compared to seed, where I thought the plot progressed to a logical conclusion. There just seems to be a disconnect of plot and conclusion in destiny. the eugenics plan felt like something pulled out of thin air.
Next up is Gundam 00, the first season had some good themes and background that was explored. Then I just have no idea how they fuck up so badly in the second season. The governments reaction to armed intervention was a pretty cool idea to dive into. Didnt really care for the Saji and Louise saga but at least I could see they were trying to explore normal people's reaction to celestial beings. I thought the execution was a bit sub-par with everything being a bit ham-fisted. But at this point I don't think the gundam series have the ability to be subtle. Then the gundam trinity showed up, and everything just start to go to hell again. Granted they did drop not-so subtle hints on the "bad guys" (ribbons and co') on being the final boss. But that does not really excuse them from doing a 360 on the plot. Up until the trinity showed up, the plot still revolved around the various government response to CB. But that plot thread was pretty much just dropped as soon as the ribbons redhead friend became the main villian for S1. Instead we suddenly get the Illuminati taking control of the world government. what follows is cartoon nazi evil Alaws doing the bidding of the illuminati. The themes of eugenics is touched upon again by the obvious superiority of the innovators. Yes obviously humans will be much better off shepherded by genetically superior beings who have god complexes. Again, dont care about the morality aspects of it. it's just that when they try to make a villain's plan sound grand and epic, it just comes up as ridiculous and shallow. Grandam 00 had the potential, but I just dunno where the plot went after the first 20 or so episodes.
Finally Age. I didn't really get into this at first but it has been growing on me. I thought the inter generational thing was a pretty fun thing to play around. Im mostly laughing at how terrible a parent flit is to asemu. Notice how when asemu go married, flit wasn't there. There is some serious daddy issues going on there. On the other hand, asemu is a terrible husband and parent too. Im sure he had reasons to be away for 15 years or so, but I still think that makes him a terrible husband.
I digress, I had to laugh when the villian announced his plan to be eugenics again. Not going to bother with how destroying random colonies would create superior human beings. that is part of the internal story logic and I can roll with it. My complaint is the same I had with previous series, The plot point came out of nowhere and there appeared to be a logic disconnect. going back to seed, I stated that the use of superweapons was a natural progression. I feel that within the context of the entire story, these superweapons does not exist just to merely to drive the plot forward. Again this is hard for me to explain. compare the escalation in conflict that occurred in seed to the destiny plan. The destiny plan solely exist in order for the protagonist to have an excuse to kill the villain. Age is nowhere as bad as destiny, but I feel this plotpoint has the same problem. The villian's plan serves solely as a vehicle for the protagonist to oppose him but does not serve any purpose in a broader context.
Woo that was long.

Ahahahah. This is going to be true comedy gold. But Eca has higher tolerance for terrible shit than I do, so he'll probably get much further than I did.

Woo that was long. Well, you pretty much echoed the main complaints of series like Destiny and 00s2, and the recent stuff in Age. The badguy in Age is pretty much bonkers, can't wait to see Flit's reaction to his shit.

Well like I said, I need like a lot of suffering before I start reading shit from that author. So something along the lines of me drinkiing myself into depression, find new angst reading, or get hit by a truck would be the kind of things that need to happen before I find myself needing to read SAO.
However, if SAO Progressive retcons Asuna to plastic I'll read without any problems.
Actually if Horizon or Kokokone fucks up I'd read SAO out of needing something to make world feel better by lowing standards. I might also work through some SAO if Koisen doesn't gimme more kouhai.
Rather unrelated, sometimes I wonder whether Uta's love for .hack has anything to do with canon yuri pairing.
