The first 15 chapters on one of the alternatives where MC gets to re-live the event was pretty good. It was alot like re-take from eva until they completely ruined it later on when it became nothing but mecha battle mecha talk mecha blah blah blah And I also can't really stand mechas, they just don't make any sense military wise. Why in the world would you want to recreate human antonomy on combat machines when you are not bound by biological laws? Head on mecha makes no sense, and such huge surface area only makes you a target practice and greatly increases drag force. Having legs on mecha have no use whatsoever most of the time unless traversing in jungle-like environment, but why bother when you can fly. Mecha in those shows don't even use their legs to "run" anyway, they just have some boosters at bottom of their feet to push them forward. Completely defeats the purpose! any show with heavy mecha undertone kills the series in my book. Macross was ok, at least they have the common sense to transform when going at a high speed (also mecha was not the selling story) | ||

The story is nothing to write home about, and can basically be summed up as an assassin squad versus the evil empire. Everyone gets special powers and abilities and such from wielded items. The mc is nothing special, but does get some pretty decent development down the line. Where this manga has me interested is in the implied direction the plot seems to be going. The mangaka has been reasonably liberal with character deaths thus far (though obviously the mc and titular heroine won't be dying anytime soon), and the bad guys have received their fair share of development as well (heck, some of them are even likeable). Anyways, things have been set up such that the two sides appear to be entering a war of attrition (mind that the mangaka has also mentioned no more reinforcements), so I'm looking forward to how exactly this is handled, and how the resulting character interactions are affected.
