If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

Sorry for the rulebreaking here (may the mods let me live another day), but are the big three really worth watching? I can't help but look with suspicious eyes at series with several hundred episodes, thinking that among those hundreds of episodes there has to be a lot of terrible filler episodes or other poor content... "It can't possibly stay good for hundreds of episodes".

Of course, this applies to other series with several hundreds of episodes as well... am I wrong?

Just started reading the One Piece manga(After watching the anime). It's so amazing the little details oda puts in this manga. Literally, there are things first mentioned in chapter 19 and 500 chapters later it's brought up again lol. Really shows oda knew exactly from the very beginning how the story would develop.

Eh not necessarily; optimistically, sure, but Oda could very well have just looked backwards from wherever in the story he was, and just could have used some of that past material. Of course it takes skill to incorporate things in this way as well but I doubt he had OP planned to the dot that much in advance on so many occasions.

Agreed but some of it is amazing. Like for example in the first volume u see a younger Rayleigh and he isnt even introduced until years later

The only weak thing about one peice is its character depth

Yeah, OP is indeed really good. I've never liked his art style but that's a personal thing hehe. And yeah, a lot of the characters' qualities exist only for comedic relief and after we learn about their backstory, it's essentially the end of their development in terms of characterization. Sometimes he reveals more backstory though

So, on a side note does anyone know where I can watch the very first gundam anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam on the internet? Many Gundam fans have told me to start off SEED or ACE but I just can't get my head around starting the on the like, 10th series.

Bakabt can get you access to pretty much all older anime series. There is always really good seeding on their torrents.

Sankarea's been a bit average atm and the arcs are feeling really slow. There has been a lot of material/character development added into the anime that wasn't present in the manga. You can call it filler, but if what I've read is correct, it's just additional stuff the manga author wanted to add into the anime. Idk if you can really call it filler.

I'm enjoying Hyouka, some are, some aren't and find Chitanda annoying, I can sort of see why after awhile. Personally I find her cute.

She is so cute.

She is indeed very cute.

She's awesome if you're able to answer all her questions. If you can't, then annoying > cuteness.

Then it's a good thing Oreki is good at doing what he does.

KyoAni have gotten moe nailed down. Then again, they have a lot of experience from Kanon, Haruhi, K-On and Clannad.

But as for Chitanda, she has long straight hair that's still slightly unkempt and large wide eyes at have a sense of amazement at whatever they look at while her face is slightly ditzy but in a good way and is always cheerful. So yes, she's very cute. It's like they took the lessons from Mio and then decided to take it even further.

Yeahhh they're so good :>

I also really liked Shaft's animation for Bakemonogatari...though...sometimes I did feel they were trying to be a bit too avant-garde, and it turned out sort of awkward/weird in several places imho. I personally didn't really like Mio though (not gonna lie, didn't really like any of the chars from K-On); it might be an instance where something is rather closely related to another, but just a few differences can endear one character to some people much more :x

I've found that trying to juggle just ruins the experience, so after a few attempts at doing so I decided to stick to 1 at a time. If something else ends up more interesting than what I read then I will put the current VN on hold and not touch it until I've lost interest in the new one (which rarely happens before the end of it all.)

Also, stop it with your KyoAni shit. If you need moe just prod ZNF.

Do people really watch a show or pickup/drop shows solely based on a voice actor? I never understood that at all. Seems sort of stupid to me, but that's why I ask.

It doesn't hurt. The vast majority of shows on a seasonal chart have godawful descriptions that aren't indicative of the show's quality anyways, so giving any show a 2-3 episode tryout is well within reason.

Edit: Teru Time, bitches.

Why you gotta get my hopes up like that? Still have to wait until next week for true Teru Time. Also, announcer change makes me sad. WAKANE WAKANE.

(─‿‿─) Should probably read Tomoyo After at some point too

Is there a finished english translation of Tomoyo After somewhere? I've been looking for it but couldn't find one...

I believe there is a partial translation, they project was dropped sadly

Also I just downloaded and installed FS/N but there are no voices. Is this normal?

Ugh, partial isn't good enough =/ Oh well.

Also, while the beginning of FS/N is weird, I don't remember it having no voices.

ED: just checked, it does indeed have sounds in the prologue as well. Guess your install is messed up.

They are working on Tomoyo After right now, but from the looks of it, it won't be out of a while.

Hehheh really enjoying FS/N VN. So badass , probably will read Kara no Shoujo next, although that will be quite some time I think. What about you guys? Do you guys just read one vn through then go to the next or do you juggle multiple vns?

Depends on how much focus on story it is and the number of endings. A good mystery is supposed to be difficult to put away, so Kara no Shoujo went very fast to read through (but I don't feel like going for additional endings now that everything is explained). More harem style vns like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien are a bit tedious with massive amount of routes, repeating main story and a language that takes more time to read. But then you can come back every once in a while and read through an arc.

Does anyone know how the other Innocent Grey vns are? I have finished some routes in Pianissimo and the setting is nice, but the story felt pretty meh.

I agree something about her character design just screams cute to me for some reason. is it the violet eyes or is it the straight long black hair?

I dunno, but she is indeed super cute, one of the cutest imo >\\\<

For me, it's partially the art style, which is ridiculously good.

Now that you mention it I start to see the startling resemblance!

Your typical moe character: tall, long straight black hair, fringe in front, big sparkling eyes. Every other anime has one.
