If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

Its a nice Anime imo. I remember I saw the old Anime Serie called "Captain Tsubasa" when I was a little kid.

YES I finished Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
I've been for long time wishing to encounter anime like this. ^^ Very much of my style. I like how it changes at midway to very different, so drastically different, but still kinda same. ** so sad and sometimes very beautiful. =D

Anyone wanna recommend Baccano! for me? Looks like it'd be interesting.

They are relatively decent interpretations of the original literature, though it felt to me to be more of a showcase of the character designers than anything else. The selection of works they used for it cover a pretty wide spectrum, so I think anyone would be able to find at least something in there that they like.

Baccano is pretty good, has an ensemble cast and does a pretty good job of presentation aswell. Most of the characters are pretty interseting.

The second work of Aoi Bungaku is more scenery porn at times than an engaging story. But the rest are very good. Id watch that before Baccano if you enjoyed Rainbow.

I thought it was "meh". I lost interest in it after 8 eps but didnt drop it until 15 cause a friend of mine wouldn't stop hyping that shit up.

Is it just me or did anyone else notice how skinny Laxus got?

Either its just a decrease in artwork quality and the drawers are too lazy to get the proportions right. Or they wanted to signify how being "exiled" has gotten him skinnier, not that it had any effect on his strength, as seen when he one-hits Natsu.

+ Show Spoiler +
Maybe because he used to have that giant ass leather jacket earlier which he doesn't have anymore, also I wouldn't call it laziness, maybe they just decided it would be better this way. I like giving them benefit of the doubt.

Anyway I heard this arc was filler, maybe it's going to finally have at least C (that's a grade) fights?
I'm very disappointed with the fights in fairy tail, it's always the same thing, usually about friendship, faith, etc., they try too hard to give everyone different powers (chicken man? summons a wall of omellette? Really? God..) but it doesn't really do them any good.
I furthermore do not like how every attack has a name, not only does it sound awkward (to us, at least) but it makes the fights so cheap. If they had freedom to do whatever the fuck they wanted, I feel the show would mature like that. I'm going to make a comparison to bleach, which has their fights done really, really well on a pure fight level. I like ft more than bleach, don't get me wrong, but the fights in ft are just horrible in comparison. In bleach there were always 'holy shit' moments that just blew my mind out of the fucking skull, I think there have been maybe 2 holy shit moments in fairy tail so far and I don't think they were in battles.
If i had to make a comparison with naruto, naruto battles carry much, much more psychological power to them. Like you know that it's a battle of ideals, it's presented that way, people actually get cut and die, there is always the possibility of someone making a random hit that kills someone. Literally everything in ft comes down to a power level versus a power level, which personally I never liked in the first place, after 130 episodes it's just getting bad.
They also never create any interesting villains, it's always the same thing. Some foreshadowing, party gets beat down by 'black' (not gray) party of villains, bla bla, they fight again and this time with help of some white power (friendship, love, faith, you know what I mean) their power level clashes with the villains again and this time the party wins. Flashbacks of villains backstory, now they are made from black to white and everything is (usually) forgiven. The same formula is used every time and it's starting to bore me. Jellal is the only interesting person in the series, to be completely honest.
Now other than that I really like the show, it has good humor, other than what I've said it's trying to keep up with a maturer audience (+- 16-18), you care for the characters, etc. etc.
The fact that the fights are so horrible and that the villains aren't interesting are starting to kill the show for me, though

Aquarion:

Basically, these were the top 4 girls in an Aquarion Character Poll, by Newtype I think but don't quote me on that. We already know what happened to #1. And #2 and #3 are also on Altair now, and complaining about their bodies.... IMO Kawamori is deliberately trying to troll everyone by doing that to the most popular girl, followed by doing the same thing to the #2 and #3 girl.

The most recent new anime series I watched was AnoHana, and before that...... jeez, it might've been Code Geass. Anyway, I'm pretty out of the loop, but got excited upon hearing of the new Lupin III and Eureka Seven series. Funimation has the first few episodes of each available for free streaming, so I'm gonna be checking them out sometime soon. Anyone here have anything to say about them?

The new Eureka Seven is surprisingly good. I thought the original was decent and was really brought down by how annoying the MC was, but AO is exceeding all the expectations I had of it. Definitely recommend, imo.
