It's been over a day and still snail-pace downloading t_t Slow and steady wins the race!!! haha, I was able to finish dl'ing and watched it all yesterday. Including the 15 min Touko OVA too, which, after rewatching the movie for maybe the 4th time, was referenced in the movie too!
I've tried to seed, but I didn't connect to anything, so I deleted the torrent lol.

I finished the batch in a few hours. Come at me, Sweden.

Shinji never becomes an alpha male, Asuka is a jealous bitch, and Rei is a boring albino? You're right, I'm sorry, they're terrible characters, I can see it clearly now. You and your strawman arguments. Its getting amusing now lol Reasons outlined here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=94273¤tpage=2052#41037Still waiting for a rebuttal! Hopefully without strawmen! That's exactly what I found in the post you linked? You said Shinji is "by far the worst main character ever featured in an anime" because: All this little bastard does is whine, cry, complain, and masturbate to a chick he put into a hospital. I'M NOT FUCKING MAKING IT UP HE REALLY DID THAT HOLY SHIT THAT SCENE WASN'T AWKWARD AT ALL, WAS IT? Now let me be clear, I really have a problem with characters who start out like that. Some of my favorite anime of all time have MCs who start out like that. But the question is whether or not they develop, and grow into a character past that. Does Shinji follow in the footsteps of Amuro Ray, mature as a character, and become a better person by the end of the series? This can be pretty much summed up by saying that you dislike Shinji because he's an awkward, introverted and cowardly kid and he never matures into a better person. We have Asuka, the "hot" female lead, who Shinji has a crush on. Shes a total, insufferable bitch. No, not a tsundere. Even fucking Louise from ZnT is more tsundere than Asuka. Asuka is just a bitch. And she is for the entire series. She is also a jelly bitch. You dislike Asuka as a character because she's a jealous bitch. There is literally nothing else in here, that's exactly what I said. Rei is an inhuman albino. She isn't cute in the least. Shes boring as fuck. What people see in her, I will never understand. Rei is a boring albino and she isn't cute. Again, I'm not seeing any other reasons over here. + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://ih1.redbubble.net/image.5388218.2775/flat,550x550,075,f.jpg) Here's a straw man for you bro, you seem to really like those a lot. On May 04 2012 04:37 Sentenal wrote:Yes, this is how people express their personal opinions, especially when discussing Chinese cartoons. Yes, it is. If I call something bad or good, saying both is stating an opinion. I could call something a masterpiece, and the best anime ever made, and it would still be an opinion (and I wonder if you would get so butt-hurt over me doing that?). Also, how is me calling something shit and garbage the same as telling people that they aren't allowed to enjoy it? There seems to be a logical step you are skipping. People are free to enjoy garbage. I haven't told anyone they aren't allowed to enjoy shitty anime. I can't understand how they can like that shit, but that doesn't meant they aren't allowed to. Again, I don't think this is how opinions and personal taste work, but I might be wrong. Okay, and now explain to me how "saying that you dislike Shinji because he's an awkward, introverted and cowardly kid and he never matures into a better person." is the same the same thing as "Shinji never becomes an alpha male", or any of the other like statements you have characterized my posts with? Is there a difference? You say Shinji is a bad character because he never stops being introverted and cowardly, i.e., he never becomes an "alpha male". I still don't see how this makes him a bad character. It's wrong to say that he has no character development, as he does change considerably during the series, even if he does end up in a similar situation to how he was at first. So you don't really have any reason beyond him being introverted and cowardly.
I noticed you didn't really say anything about Asuka and Rei, so I assume you really do think they're bad characters because they'd be unpleasant to talk to.

I was expecting him to snap at some point. Too much heated discussion since he came in here.

Dude, he got baited so hard into that, lol

I didn't bait anyone, I was just talking about it. He got real heated, and even claimed to not like it, so IDK what his problem was. Seems like I'm not allowed to discuss any anime here without someone getting really angry about it :/

I think your colorful language is really provocative.

Thats what I got warned for in the Code Geass discussion, but I felt I kept it alot more civil this time. Kinda depressing that its almost like I can't discuss something here unless I'm just passively acknowledging it.

I mean, I didn't think you were wrong. I wouldn't say it was garbage, but I would say that Ikari is one the reasons why even Rebuild wasn't as enjoyable as it could've been.

It just shows how dedicated people are to their opinions, and when you challenge them they become all defensive.
Anyways I just watched the first couple episodes of Madoka (suggested by a friend, kept pushing until I agreed) and the first 2 and 3/4ths were really entertaining. However....+ Show Spoiler +Was not expecting Mami to get fucking decapitated. The show instantly turned from cute to downright WTF, so much that I couldn't continue to watch. I was not expecting that shit.

Alright, I hope this is the appropriate place to ask.
I recently watched Death Note (I got persuaded to watch the first 5 minutes and then I didn't stop) as my first anime ever. I loved it to say the least.
Is there any other high quality anime I could watch that appeals to people who liked Death Note?
edit: that chart at the top does not really help me, it only adds more confusion

There's a list above that gives specific genres. Death Note is in one of them so you might want to check out what appears most appealing from that list (see if the title/image suits you, then wiki/look it up)

First time I've seen someone turned off by episode 3.

Yes, there are many that you would like, the only question is what genre do you like? If you say all, then feel free to read a few pages back as suggestions can be found pretty often.
A specific suggestion? Full Metal Alchemist + Brotherhood. These two are masterpieces. Brotherhood is a stand-alone series, not a direct sequel, and some episodes are very similar to the original series. I found that Brotherhood was better, as it felt better paced (although a few episodes longer).
