Actually, what is worth watching this season? x_x apart from nisemonogatari I added Ano Natsu and Rinne Lagrange to my list. (added) 1) Amagami + 2) Nisemonogatari 3) Ano Natsu 4) Rinne Lagrange ^Those are all pretty much school life/drama/comedy mumbo jumbo. I like them all very much. (dropped) 1) Highschool Dxd 2) Kill Me Baby Dxd was fcking horrible, ive seen hentai with better plot (not literally, just figure of speech). Kill Me Baby is like Nichijou I guess. Think Lucky Star and Nichijou having a baby, and Kill Me Baby is the end result. (considering) 1) Symphogear 2) Moretsu Pirates Dunno about these yet, still nothing that draws me in. But Ill keep watching them just for the sake of keeping up with the discussions here (lol?). Edit: + Show Spoiler [Chihayafuru 14] +Chihaya vs The Queen. Wow, that was an amazing ep. The way they paced Chihaya losing to slowly making a comeback was amazing. She put everything she learned into action, EVERYTHING, and it was amazing to see it come to fruition.
The Queen's character was well done too, she was so hot (I love her hair and eyes) and she sorta carried this sadistic aura about her with an air of boredom, I loved that. They even showed a quick dere side of her which was so kawaii, and it also reminded us that shes a 16 year old just like Chihaya, and not a immortal. But damn she was fineeee. Well done episode yet again. So out of curiosity, whats the difference between Lagrange and Moretsu Pirates, other than one has giant robots? What do you mean? Why one is still under "considering" and the other made the "added" list? Idk, both seem fine to me. Im still waiting for an actual "pirate" scene before I give this show my final judgment. + Show Spoiler + I see... You had them saying "dunno about these yet, nothing draws me in", which confused me, since as of now both show strike me as extremely similar (outside the giant robots in Lagrange). Well, I guess Lagrange has alot of fanservice too, while Pirates surprisingly has practically no tits and ass yet.
It wasnt the fanservice, it was the giant robot german suplex that won me over.

Thx very much for the Katawa Shoujo! I am enjoying it so far :q
Also I finished Seitokai Yakuindomo and all I got to say about this series is... + Show Spoiler + LOL one of teh best Seitokai and if not teh best! I though Seitokai Ichizon would be hard to top but Seitokai Yakuindomo exceeded my exception. The sex joke is so well done :D

Bear in mind that the number of people in Japan who count as otaku account for maybe 1% of the population, with less than that actually being male.
There's a bigger social issue behind it.
|
ofcourse, thats why I said this wasnt an appropriate place to put it. The latter part was just a joke, another reason was because I feel like (from most weebo's or whatever the term is) have huge misconceptions because of their exposure to nothing but anime, the internet and *insert*con's as a medium.
|
End of japan? Or natural selection? O_o

1% is about right. Europe has a similar issue as well. Pretty much it's just that raising kids costs too much.

Why is it the only manga and anime I'm motivated to read/watch anymore is shoujo romance stuff? I mean, come on, there's not even explosions!
...but I can't stop reading. Just caught up with Kaichou Wa Maid-sama, and it's been absolutely enjoyable, moreso than any seinen or shonen stuff I've read lately. Whyyyyyy
|
Kaichou ha Maid-sama is a shounen disguised as a shoujo though.
|
Eh, it does have some shounen-esque elements, but most chapters don't include them that much.
There's a bit of fanservice (cosplay, for the most part), the fact that Usui is basically a shounen hero, but there's not much beyond that. It's just a good story so far. It's not even deeply shoujo, it's kind of all around slice of life romance.
|
Does the addition "shounen-elements" (badly defined) make the shounen series?
|
Is this the worst anime season or what?
So far im watching : Nisemonogatari, Another, Brave 10 and Mourestu pirates ( not impressed at all 99% drop in next 1-2 ep ) Gonna watch Black Rock Shooter when it airs and Natsume s4 but need to finish s3 first.
Well at least Berserker Movie is coming out soon so it cant be that bad :D
|
Generally I categorize a series by it's core.
Shounen series at their core appeal to young men with high action, cool sci-fi/fantasy stuff, fanservice if the series calls for it, and badass characters. They might have romance subplots, high character development, and things like that, but at their core, it's about being cool.
Shoujo series are the same for female audiences. Their cores are usually romance, slice of life (with a focus on character development than comedy), and story. Action comes secondary, if it's there at all.
Some series are hard to place, yeah, but Kaichou was pretty well defined as a love story with a focus on Misaki developing as she gets to know Usui. The couple action sequences, fanservice bits and slapstick aren't the core, and their inclusion doesn't really make it shounen.
