Baldr Sky takes place chronologically after Baldr Force but before whatever the other one was (Revellion?) and follows Kadokura Kou, a freelance mercenary on a mission... until he gets caught in a Logic Bomb and loses half his brain, leaving him amnesiac regarding the past few years. As cutting-edge nanotech repairs his brain chip and starts restoring his memories, he pieces together his past, and himself, and is forced to take a long, hard look at the road he's traveled. As he says in chapter 3 (where I got to last night), upon waking up from a memory playback and wondering where all his friends are, he looks at his address book and finds like none of them. "WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING!?" It is, personally, one of the best sci-fi VNs to come out of late, and also has sick gameplay, although you can cheese through it by spamming ranged stuff. But it's not cool, and you can unload some awesome flashy combos. I didn't cheese my way through most of my playthrough, but I also played it on normal/hard and never got particularly good. Also, I been trashtalking Ecael to try to recover my wounded ego at being buttwhooped in Alchemy. Rules are, hardest difficulty, best route possible, full bonus unlocks, no cheesing (unless upgrading, or being SHAFTED AT THE START CUZ YOU HAVE NO MELEE OPENERS). o/ http://www.livestream.com/utahime/video?clipId=pla_45e80b8d-14d4-462a-b605-4896eb697a6a I can't really set up a set schedule yet because I've still got schoolwork and my sleeping schedule is all over the place, so hopefully past recordings + shorter play sessions will keep it working x_X Edit: Also, super duper excuse time! Combat works via three buttons (+1 later, +1 boost) all corresponding to a set attack skill. You can set umm, 12 attack skills although currently it only lets me set 9 (I only start with 6...). These attacks trigger generally based on range, in that it goes Short, Short seeking, Normal Dash, and Range. What this translates to is "standing still in close range," "tracking target in close range," "moving around," and "standing still far away." Ideally you'd start off with some sort of closing-the-distance skill via ND or SS to chain into short and then standing range (if you hit one button it goes from top to bottom based on what's not used yet), etc. However, the three melee skills you start off with are a short jab, a short kick, and the beamsword with a 0.2 second or so delay. Further complication things is that it doesn't let me set SS, so I can either stand and fire a short, or use a moving skill to fire. The ranged weapons I have are a regular three-shot rifle, a beam ball that acts as a snare + aoe damage + bullet reflect, and a grenade. The issue is obviously that none of the melee skills let me close the distance, and because the sword knocks the enemy BACK, despite having decent range you can't actually chain from the sword to the other melee skills. Furthermore IIRC the short jab and kick were only good either after launching the enemy into the air (where anything tends to start working) or if the enemy is downed... and at the moment the only skill I have that can actually knock someone down is the grenade, which as ginormous range. So there's no way I can actually get in range. Hence why I resorted to cheese... because the Virii I were fighting fire that stupid ranged electrical bolt that infinite-combos me if I tried getting in range -_- Edit2: Also the sword took up like 2/3 my heat gauge wtf.

Edit: TWGOK 140 was pretty damn epic. This mangaka has really shown promise lately. Seriously. Yui is the perfect wife (husband?) for Keima.

But, pretty much there's three camps for those that watched the show: the people who loved it, the people who genuinely hated it, and the "anime hipsters" that think they're so cool cuz everyone else likes it and they don't. You'll often hear crap in their reviews like, "I don't buy into the hype", instead of legitimate arguements as to why they don't like it. I genuinely hate all Jesus anime. Also for this summer; Dantalion book: Uh, this is a short story LN so I have no idea how it'll pan out, but I'll give it a shot. Usagi Drop - FUUUUCKKKK YEAHHHHHHHHHHH Negima Movie - Have to watch it, been reading manga too long. Natsume Yuujinchou - I remember this series being amusing because of the cat/dog/wolf demon thing. So I'll probably rewatch first season, then this. Kamisama Dolls - This seems like a trap. A show that sounds decent but will end up being the worst anime of the season. So I have to watch a few episodes.

EDIT - though even I wouldn't die on the first fight on hard lololol I started from Sky 1, doing all 6 routes, died to the first (well, technically loaded) because I forgot to look at the controls, but I still forgot to re-arrange so I kept grenading while trying to sword, and then I died against the mass Virus :x Edit: I almost died in the first set before I resorted to cheese... even against ~5 it's hard sword/kick/punching them to death cuz they outrange so badly :/

Here is the OP for it, which is one of the best that i've come across thus far: It's a great couple of hours to kill, and the setting/voice acting/writing/cg effects all exceeded my expectations.

Will probably fit in reading sessions of it inbetween Alchemy play this week. The one time I was in it you weren't around zzzzzz Well lemme know how it goes, I'm still studying japanese, but just from the trial I know this one is going to be on my 'to read' list. The fantasy/dark ages settings are one of my top favorites, as there seems to be a scarcity of good anime-related titles that can properly pull it off, (slayers, densetsu no yuusha, etc.)

I've often wonderered if the outcome of the war would have been different if Yang had been just as ambitious as Reinhard. Half the time in the series, it's like the Imperials win because of his inaction. Also finished the Gundam movies. Movies 2 and 3 were far, far better than the initial movie in terms of action and plot development. It was nice seeing Amuro develop into a badass. Char is still the best character of the series though. I asked this in IRC, but where the heck did he get a horse from? He hopped out of his mobile suit on an abandoned Side, and suddenly in the next scene, he's on a horse...
