Alabasta arc had some nice fights, obv luffy and zoros fights still where the best there. But the others werent all that bad. Ex sanji vs mr2. Robin owning pell was also a pretty awesome stomp. But robin was changed completely from the original charracter she was. Because she was originally a ruthless back-stabbing and heartless woman who was mis-treated by the world, it's a good thing that she's become a good person. I really like each and every one of the straw hats just the way they are. Edit: don't you dare put arlong in the same tier as law, crocodile, etc. arlong was nothing more than a racist, hateful dip-shit who's also really fucking weak.
Arlong was a great villain and i remember feeling that the manga was getting "real" during the arlong arc and it was at that time i really fell in love with One Piece.

The Arlong's fight with Luffy and Luffy yelling at Nami is what got me into One Piece as well. That's why I hate Arlong. :p

Old designs look so weak especially Luffy. He didn't look manly at all. Wait what? He looks manly now ?
He may not looks that manly compare to the like of Zoro and Whitebeard but he certainly looks more iืtimidating than old design when he gets serious. Luffy was lanky before ts.

The Arlong arc is basically what got me into One Piece. Though I have heard it's different for a lot of people, so let's poll that shit!
Poll: What arc made you fall in love with OP?Arlong Park (19) 36% Chapter 1 (7) 13% Alabasta Arc (7) 13% Water 7 Ennies Lobby Arc (7) 13% Sanji Arc (6) 11% Skypeia Arc (3) 6% Entry to Grand Line (2) 4% Ussop Arc (1) 2% Rescue Ace Arc (1) 2% Zoro Arc (0) 0% Buggy Arc (0) 0% Thriller Bark Arc (0) 0% Shabondy Arc (0) 0% 53 total votes Your vote: What arc made you fall in love with OP? To be fair, I don't know why you would be reading all the way to those later arcs without loving One Piece, but I have heard it happening.
|
No Fishman Island? Or I assume that's entry to Grand Line and Punk Hazzard is included in that. Didn't really start reading the manga until right after the Marineford war with Whitebeard dying.
|
Alabasta for me. Before that, I found that was a pretty decent manga with a lot of funny stuff and some cool action. And then the entire Alabasta arc happened, with all those awesome islands, serious fights, undying determination and such.
|
I liked the manga from the start, but I feel in love with it at arlong park
|
I think romance dawn did it for me. The manga was so fresh for me, I immediatly fell in love. I knew there was a manga called 'one piece' that was really popular, but I accidently started reading romance dawn on some manga reader somewhere.

I must say though that dressrosa is shaping up to be one of the best arc in the series so far. cant wait to see what doflamingo is up to, hes such a well written villain.
|
Sanji arc when we first see Mihawk, liked the show before but was blown away after that.
|
im gonna do a jerry seinfeld here and ask "Whats the deal with Mihawk?" he has so many circlejerking fanboys yet he has never really done anything except slashing up zoro at Bartie. he was useless during marineford (Crocodile, Doflamingo and Kuma PX-0 where the only schicibukai who really did anything) and he doesnt even act like a pirate, he hangs out in a castle and trains gorillas in swordfighting. "The Worlds most Skilled Swordman" doesnt mean much in a world of crazy devil fruits and haki.

The worlds best swordsman actually means even more in a world full of crazy devil fruits and haki. With all those abilities and skills in abundance he still manages to hold the title with little doubt. Makes you wonder what he's really capable of and I can't wait to see it.

It means hes better than anyone else when it comes to fencing with a sword. It doesnt mean the worlds strongest man, who happens to use a sword. His slash failed to do any damage to Jozu, so he cant be capable of too much.

You'd think people who have abilities that would make fighting with a sword easier would take the title over him but they haven't. Best swordsman means he doesn't lose a sword fight with anyone else in the world, even if they are abusing their OP devil fruits. He's got to have serious skills then to do that.
Jozu is also made of diamonds and I doubt he was going all out and holding back during that fight, same with Jozu.
|
He wasnt holding back, he wanted to test "the difference between the whitebeard pirates and himself". The third division commander was enough to stop his slash. Doflamingo on the other hand was able to toy around with Jozu.
The point is, most powerful characters in OP dont even use a sword and wont engage him in a swordfight. So the Title doesnt mean that much.
He is probably "Mid Tier" strong, like all schichibukai. Stronger than other pirates but weaker than the admirals and the yonkos.

Except we kinda know that he will be the end boss for Zoro and most strong people dont use a sword/weapon? whitebeard shanks and rayleigh are not strong then I suppose

Kinda proves that swordsmanship is far from the most important aspect in a duell in one piece.
Also, Whitebeard uses a Bisento, not a Sword.

All 100% speculation. All we know is he's the worlds strongest swordsman. And powerful people don't use swords? How many use spears? How many only use hammers? How many use no weapons at all? There's too many choices out there for everyone to pigeon hole into 1 item. They just use what they like and think fits them. He happens to be the best with a sword.
We know nothing about his powers other than he might have something to do with strings. You can't use Doflamingo as an example, he wasn't even trying to cut Jozu.
Mihawk was doing exactly that, testing his skill, nothing more. I could just as easily say he was just seeing if the Whitebeard pirates are actually good or not and wanted to see if they could withstand a simple slash. Not a blow with all his power.
But again this is all 100% speculation because we've barely seen his power against people that matter.

We know that it has something to do with strings since we actually see them when he augments them with haki in his fight against smoker. we also have a pretty good idea of what he can do with them (slice things apart, control other people, fly, create a net of strings that can cut a meteor into tiny pieces etc)

sc2holar he never went all out in a fight so I wouldn't bother trying to guess his true power level.
