ehh nah I disagree
there's one thing that the anime has that the manga won't ever have (nothing vs manga, don't worry!), it's the music as well as the fucking absurd good voice actors that luffy and chopper have. i say luffy and chopper but really, every single voice actor plays really well. the music is just really good and fits the spirit of the story almost perfectly.
but nothing is as satisfying as hearing chopper insult (ie thanking someone for a compliment) with the same voice that pikachu has

How come? Feels the same to me as it's done the past several years since Oda's style matured.
I don't think there has been any change, personally. I think most of the people who think the anime has "gotten bad" or changed any from how it was are just suffering from having to wait for it weekly. One Piece pacing as been pretty much exactly the same from the very start of the anime all the way up to present. Its just when you are marathoning the anime, such pacing issues don't stick out as much.

I agree with this , stopped watching around episde 585.
Saw there was One_pace episodes a couple weeks ago that combines 2-3 episodes for better pacing. Downloading the latest episode to see if its worth watching theese .

the anime is incredibly bad. Especially lately i think. The fishman arc in the anime was terrible. Will never watch one piece anime. The only animation that ever was made good in the anime was the cp9 arc. The luffy fight in particular i liked.

Please elaborate and explain. I don't understand what you're refering to exactly, as I don't know what was so "bad" about it. Has been the same forever according to me, and it's true to the manga in most things (though a bit more kid friendly in graphics).

It's just rediculously slow. Not only in story but just in what is going on. One piece is one of those mangas where there is a ton of stuff going on in one image, and the anime is the total opposite of that. You can also say this for some other animes, but it's even more obvious for One Piece anime. In the manga, the drawings are really well thought-out and detailed. There are other mangas where there is just a lot of white/black planes, perhaps due to lack of staff or budget, but not in the One Piece manga. It's abit like wheres waldo : there is just a ton of content in one image. Hell, we even have pandaman. EDIT : The amount of content fired at you per minute is higher in the manga.
Atleast thats what disturbs ME the most. Different people different tastes. But I think we can agree that in general, manga are considered better (but also different) than anime, and it's no different for this one. The reason I still watch animes is probably because im simply to lazy to flip pages. But for a -in my opinion- masterpiece like One Piece, ill get off my lazy bum.
the anime's biggest problem is that they're going for a 1chapter1episode pace, which just doesn't fit 20 minute long episodes. The result is a lot of staring, stand stills, filler and other things that destroy the pace.

What is wrong with being slow? As fan of One Piece, I love the slow pace, since it means more time with everything I love about it. I'm in no rush with the anime, I already know what happens by reading the manga. The anime lets me take it slow, and enjoy everything at a leisurely pace. Honestly the only reasons I can imagine as to why "slow pace" would be terrible would be if you don't actually care for One Piece's world or characters all that much, or are ADD.
You're confusing "slow pace" with "padding". Slow pace would be what's going on right now in Dressrosa with the tournament and all that, the arc has gone to a really slow start but that's ok, Oda's building the place up from scratch.
"Slow pace" does not mean having people stare each other down dramatically for 30 seconds at a time. That's just lazy padding, done purely to keep the anime running in order to rake in more cash. It's lazy, nothing more than that, and it shows.
Hope you realize the difference, next time spare us your ad hominem nonsense.

Have you watched Luffy vs Hody? In anime Luffy was shown to be stupidly weak when in the manga he destroyed Hody without effort at all. Changing anything about canon story is incredibly stupid. The new moves of SH were animated badly too. Like they don't give a shit about them. Only Luffy's Redhawk and Elephant Gatling that look good.

Spare me your semantics. What is wrong with dramatic pauses? I have yet to see some explanation other than you just arbitrarily deciding it is "lazy".

'dramatic pauses', it's funny you put it that way. The only thing dramatic about it is that it pisses me off every time it happens, and I'm not the only one I am sure. If that's your thing, those 'dramatic pauzes', fine, to each his own, but I feel like you need to admit that to your average anime watcher, it is just considered bad. No matter how hard you are going to defend the One Piece anime, there are some obvious flaws with it, which can't be denied.
I don't see why I should care about what the "average anime watcher" thinks, considering that same "average anime watcher" probably also likes things like Naruto and Bleach. If such people don't care for One Piece, I'm fine with that (given that I don't care what they think), but don't try and use that as evidence as to why OP anime is bad.
There are some good parts to the anime. Not all of it is bad. I dislike most of the anime because of the padding, filler, slow pacing, etc, but there are some scenes that are done really well. The padding makes scenes appear drawn out and fight scenes suffer a lot from this. The tension you get from the fight in the manga doesn't transfer over to the anime because it disappears due to it being slower. That being said, some of anime scenes i think convey the point better than the manga because of the voice actors. More notably
I like the anime, I guess its a minority opinion tho. But I read both the Manga and watch the anime. I like viewing the story from multiple mediums with different dimensions. Like someone said, the music is pretty good. Plus there is something to actually sticking a voice and hearing a character talk then reading their lines in your head. Its fun and different so I enjoy both (though I might be more forgiving of the anime cause thats how I got started on OP in the first place :D)
