Strawhats are just not going to get a new Devil Fruit. That would just be very boring to have one established character's power given to another character who has an established fighting style.
Sanji all of a sudden being able to shoot fireballs at people would be completely different than him kicking with his foot and setting his foot on fire and kicking people and people would be mad that they ruined his fighting style. And if he just continued to kick people with fire with the Mera Mera no Mi, people would be mad that he isn't shooting fireballs at people.
Zoro's sword would be stupid for the same reasons, not to mention a waste of a logia fruit, but more importantly objects have only been shown to be eating Zoan fruits which give the weapons a mind, personality, body etc.
My prediction is that Luffy fights for the fruit, not because he wants it for himself, but so he can make sure that it isn't being used by some fucktard villain and tarnishing the memory of his brother.
What he does after IF he's able to take it is up in the air.|
Personally I would love it if he fails to get it before an antagonist eats the fruit, and he has to take that person down. Would be fun to have the Gomu Gomu vs Mera Mera fight we never got a chance to witness.

whos gonna eat the fruit? i cant really think of any antagonist who doesnt already have a fruit power
IMO Luffy gets the fruit and later on down the road he winds up eating it and getting 2 powers

So that samurai better have some really odd talents. The mera mera fruit would certainly make him different.
No reason to change my prediction so far. However, a few new possibilities are available. That toy soldier who ran into the coliseum could get it and would be a potential new crewmate. Or maybe Violet? Fiery passion gains the power of actual fire. I don't think she'll be a crewmate ever because it'd really mess with the Sanji dynamic, but she could be an ally and it might be acceptable to Luffy for her to have it.
Or some baddie could end up getting it and then Luffy smashes that guy down. It would make sense except I don't expect Luffy to kill the bad guy so the fruit would remain with that bad guy and I don't think that'll happen. If it did happen, then I'd expect Doflamingo (or someone else powerful) to finish off the beaten guy with the mera mera fruit and it would fade away again.

I feel like pacing is already strained enough covering every single crew member. I would hate it if they add another on top of Brook who I don't really feel adds much besides an occasional gag or being an old man.
Chopper Robin Nami Zoro Luffy Sanji Ussop, the 7 character size felt really good for the Skypiea arc and even Water 7 since Franky didn't have much focus until the start of Enies Lobby and Robin was more of a side character until the flashback and the very end of the arc.

Well, I doubt too many people would have said they need an archeologist before Robin invited herself onto the ship. And a musician is only because of Luffy, not something that normal people would say a ship needs. So there are all sorts of random roles that could be filled: Brewmaster, Tinkerer, Engineer, Swimmer, Dancer, Strong-man, Helmsman, etc. Look around at some of the other prominent crews and tell me what role all of their characters fill. It's tough to tell.
Instead, I look at Blackbeard's crew and match em up 1v1 to the Straw Hats. There are the 4 obvious matches:
Luffy vs Blackbeard
Zoro vs Shiliew
Usopp vs Van Augur
Chopper vs Doc Q + Stronger.
A couple more Probables:
Brooke vs Laffitte
Sanji vs Jesus Burgess
But then there are 3 more Straw Hats (Nami, Franky, and Robin) and 4 more Blackbeard Pirates (Catarina Devon, Vasco Shot, Avalo Pizarro, and Sanjuan Wolf). Unless the Thousand Sunny itself fights against Sanjuan "Colossal Battleship" Wolf, I think the Straw Hats still have one more member to go.
Then we start adding allied crews like Jinbe's crew vs X Blackbeard allied crew and Kuja vs Y Blackbeard allied crew.
The battle will come some day. Just not anytime soon.

I hope Luffy gets the Fire Fruit and then something like this happens:
Luffy: Who wanna eat this?
Zoro: I want to be the best swordsman without any tricks.
Ussop: I want to do it like zoro, best sniper without special power.
Sanji: I WANT MY INVISIBLE FRUIT!!!!11!!
Chopper, Robin, Brook: We already got one.

It's because the fruit names sound like Japanese numbers I think.

Each syllable in the fruit names corresponds to the first syllable of a Japanese number. Note that the Japanese counting system has multiple ways to count, so there is not only 1 way to say a number, which allows a bit more freedom if you're trying to number fruits. For example, 2,9 could also correspond to the niku niku fruit. mmmm niku.
